Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable High School Science and Physics Teacher to provide high-quality instruction aligned with the Alberta curriculum. The ideal candidate will have strong subject knowledge, effective classroom-management and communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a nurturing, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching High School Science and Physics and supporting students in developing strong scientific reasoning, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and deliver engaging Science and Physics lessons aligned with the Alberta curriculum and educational standards.
- Adapt instruction to accommodate the diverse learning needs and abilities of individual students and groups.
- Develop students' scientific reasoning, problem-solving, critical-thinking, and analytical skills.
- Incorporate appropriate laboratory activities, demonstrations, and hands-on learning experiences.
- Create a supportive classroom environment that encourages curiosity, inquiry, and self-discovery.




- Employ effective classroom-management strategies to maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
- Assess student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback to support academic growth.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning and student success.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues regarding student progress and learning needs.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and remain current with educational best practices.

Pre-Employment Requirements

- Candidates must possess or be eligible for an Alberta Teaching Certificate.
- The successful candidate will be required to submit a current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check within 30 days of their employment start date.
- Applicants must provide a professional letter of reference from their most recent supervisor relevant to the position, written on company letterhead and signed and dated within the last 12 months, or provide an updated list of references from a current or recent supervisor.
- Recent or new graduates may submit their final practicum report in place of a reference letter.

Qualifications

- Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate (Required).
- Bachelor of Education degree or an equivalent qualification recognized by Alberta Education.
- Strong subject knowledge in High School Science and Physics.




- Familiarity with diverse teaching methodologies and multiple-intelligence approaches.
- A minimum of one year of recent classroom teaching experience in Canada is required.
- Strong understanding of the Alberta Program of Studies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom-management skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development.
- Adaptability and flexibility in meeting the needs of a diverse classroom.
