CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR

THE ROLE

Our client is looking for an experienced Construction Estimator to join their Winnipeg team. This position will support a variety of civil, commercial, industrial and general contracting projects .

The Estimator will review drawings and tender documents, complete takeoffs, develop project costs and prepare competitive bids while working closely with Project Managers, subcontractors, suppliers and Operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Review drawings, specifications and tender documents
- Complete detailed quantity takeoffs
- Prepare labour, material, equipment and subcontractor pricing
- Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotes
- Prepare competitive bids and tender submissions
- Identify scope gaps, risks and potential cost savings
- Analyze construction methods, sequencing and project requirements
- Work with Project Managers and Operations on project execution strategies
- Maintain estimating records and historical cost information
- Participate in tender reviews and bid closings
- Assist with project handover following successful bids





WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

- 3+ years of construction estimating experience
- Experience with civil, heavy civil, infrastructure or general contracting
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials and sequencing
- Ability to read architectural, structural and civil drawings
- Strong quantity takeoff and costing experience
- Experience working with subcontractors and suppliers
- Strong Excel skills
- Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Civil 3D or estimating software experience is an asset
- HeavyBid or similar civil estimating software is an asset
- Construction or Civil Engineering Technology education is an asset
