About Us

Forged Design is a custom metal shop specializing in railings, stairs, fences, and other architectural metalwork. We're a small, busy team that takes pride in precision, creativity, and customer service. We're looking for someone reliable, detail-oriented, and motivated to join us in a hands-on role that combines estimation, design support, sales, and site work. This is a full-time position based at our East York shop, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. You'll work directly with the owner and the fabrication team, and you'll see projects through from first drawing to final install.

Responsibilities

- Support design work (design projects using 3D modeling software, prepare detailed fabrication drawings, and coordinate with the fabrication team to ensure accuracy).
- Assist with estimating projects (reviewing drawings, preparing quotes, updating Excel/QuickBooks).
- Handle customer communication (answering phones, emails, providing updates).
- Help with sales support (following up with inquiries, preparing proposals).
- Visit job sites across the GTA to take accurate measurements and relay details to the design/fabrication team.
- Maintain organized project folders, notes, and schedules.

Requirements





- Fluent in spoken and written English (essential for customer communication).
- Experience working with 3D modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
- Experience in metal fabrication, construction, or a closely related field. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable with computers, Microsoft Office/Excel, and learning new software.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites.
- Located in the Greater Toronto Area, or able to relocate before starting.
- Positive, professional attitude with willingness to learn and grow in the role.

Nice to Have (Assets)

- Experience preparing quotes, material takeoffs, or pricing work from drawings.
- Familiarity with reading construction and shop drawings.
- Hands-on shop or welding experience. Knowledge of QuickBooks, SolidWorks, or project management tools (e.g., ClickUp)
