About the Role:
The primary focus of this position will be bookkeeping and accounting support, with additional administrative responsibilities to help keep client files, internal workflows, and day-to-day firm operations organized.
The successful candidate will work closely with our tax and accounting team and will have the opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of Canadian businesses and accounting matters.
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & Accounting
- Perform day-to-day bookkeeping for small and medium-sized business clients
- Record and categorize financial transactions
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
- Maintain accurate accounts payable and accounts receivable records
- Prepare and maintain monthly bookkeeping records
- Assist with payroll processing and government remittances
- Prepare basic financial reports, including profit & loss and balance sheet reports
- Assist with year-end bookkeeping and preparation of working papers
- Review client books for completeness and accuracy
- Identify discrepancies and follow up on missing or unclear information
- Assist with GST/HST-related bookkeeping and reporting requirements
- Work with accounting software such as QuickBooks Online and other cloud-based platforms
- Maintain organized and up-to-date digital client records
Administrative & Firm Support
- Assist with client onboarding and collection of required documents
- Follow up with clients regarding outstanding documents or information
- Maintain internal client trackers and workflow systems
- Assist with tax-season preparation and other firm projects as needed
- Help improve internal processes, checklists, and workflowsQualifications
Qualifications
- 1–3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO) is strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
- Experience with bank reconciliations, journal entries, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting
- Experience with Canadian bookkeeping and GST/HST is an asset
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Robust organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential financial and client information professionally
- Comfortable working independently while also collaborating with a small team
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week in the office.
Pay: $22.00-$35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20.0 – 40.0 per week
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Brampton, ON
