Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our maintenance team at our Val Caron shop. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment, including both surface and underground drill rigs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role requires the ability to work independently and in a team environment, both in the shop and in the field.

Responsibilities

- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical issues accurately using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on both surface and underground drill rigs.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment efficiently and safely.
- Repair or replace faulty components using hand tools and power tools.
- Perform maintenance and repairs in both shop and field environments.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics,



and equipment diagrams.
- Assist in troubleshooting complex mechanical problems and implement effective solutions.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with applicable safety standards and company policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with team members to improve maintenance procedures, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Proven experience as a mechanic, preferably with heavy equipment or drill rigs.
- Experience with CAT and Cummins engines is preferred.
- Experience with hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Experience performing maintenance and repairs on both surface and underground drill rigs in shop and field environments.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and components.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Solid problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's licence is an asset.

This is a full-time, permanent, in-person position based out of our Val Caron shop, with field work required as needed.
