Are you our next Marketing & Communications Coordinator?

We are seeking a Marketing & Communications Coordinator to support storytelling across SMS’s projects, people, and culture. This role contributes to written and visual communications that support brand visibility,



internal engagement, and business development.

The ideal candidate is a well-rounded communications professional with strong writing and editing skills, along with hands-on experience in photography and video. You’re comfortable working across multiple formats, enjoy collaborating with technical teams, and can manage a variety of communications tasks while maintaining quality and consistency.

Reporting to the Marketing & Communications Manager, this is a hands-on, collaborative role focused on execution and coordination, with opportunities for creative input and growth.

What You’ll Do:

Content Creation & Communications

- Write and edit content for social media, internal communications, proposals, presentations, and marketing materials.
- Develop brand-aligned stories around projects, people, and culture.
- Edit and help develop blog posts and thought leadership content from team members.
- Apply and support the SMS voice — professional, approachable, and practical.

Brand & Creative Support

- Help protect and evolve brand voice, tone, and visual identity across all channels.
- Contribute ideas for campaigns, visuals, and creative concepts.
- Assist with the implementation and evaluation of the annual SMS marketing and communications plan.
- Support brand visibility through career fairs, networking sessions, and company events, including setup and event photography/videography.
- Create content for the office that supports internal culture, engagement, and knowledge sharing (e.g., TV slides and Teams).

Digital & External Communications

- Assist with updating website content, including project highlights, company updates, and other related content.
- Support social media planning, content creation, posting, and performance tracking.

Visual Content (Photography & Video)

- Capture and edit photo and video content for projects, people, and events.
- Support short-form video and visual content for social media, proposals, presentations,



and internal use (eg., headshots).

Proposal & Business Development Support

- Work closely with subject matter experts, leadership, and business development teams.
- Support the writing, editing, and formatting of proposal content in collaboration with technical teams and the Marketing & Communications Manager.
- Create and update project reference sheets, team CVs, and supporting proposal materials.

What You Bring:

- 3–5 years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related role.
- Strong writing and editing skills, particularly for proposals, internal and external communications, and digital content.
- Experience editing content from subject matter experts (e.g., blog posts or technical content).
- Experience supporting social media content creation and posting for professional or corporate accounts.
- Hands-on experience with photography and basic video production.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
- Experience in professional services, engineering, or construction is an asset.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Adobe Premiere Pro, Canva, Microsoft 365 (Teams, Word, PowerPoint), Social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram)
- Experience with short-form video editing for social media is an asset
- A valid Manitoba Class 5 driver's license and reliable transportation are required for this position.

Pay: $55,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
