Daytime Lifeguard

BGC South East is currently seeking part-time Daytime Lifeguard to join our Aquatics team.

Rate of Pay: $20.00/hour
Hours: Minimum 15 hours per week; additional hours may vary based on facility needs
Duration: September 2026 – June 2027
Schedule: Daytime availability required

Position Summary

The Daytime Lifeguard is responsible for providing a safe, welcoming, and positive aquatic environment for members and patrons. This position supports the day-to-day operation of the aquatic facility, delivers excellent customer service, enforces pool rules and safety procedures, and works collaboratively with facility partners and other members of the Aquatics team.

Key Responsibilities

- Supervise members and patrons in and around the pool and respond appropriately to safety concerns and emergencies.
- Ensure the safety and security of participants during aquatic programming.
- Actively enforce pool rules, operating policies, regulations, and facility procedures.
- Ensure aquatic supplies, equipment, and facilities are available and maintained in secure working condition.
- Assist with routine facility maintenance and cleaning as required.
- Provide professional and responsive customer service to members, patrons, and facility partners.
- Communicate effectively with participants, coworkers, supervisors, and community partners.




- Attend all mandatory in-services, training sessions, and staff meetings.
- Perform other duties related to the protected and effective operation of the aquatic facility as required.

Qualifications

Required:

- Current National Lifeguard (NL) Certification
- Current Standard First Aid, CPR-C & AED Certification
- Current CPIC with Vulnerable Sector Check
- Up-to-date immunization record, including TB, TD, and MMR
- Reliable transportation
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to provide excellent customer service and work effectively as part of a team

Asset:

- Current Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor certification
