Direct Supervisor: Distribution Centre Operations Manager

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Distribution Centre Operations Manager, the Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the organization and supervision of Warehouse and Yard operations. The Warehouse Supervisor is also responsible for supervising operations staff to ensure maximum productivity at an effective level.

Key Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Distribution Centre Operations Manager, the key responsibilities of the role are:

Inventory Control

- Monitor and control inventory accuracy with a proactive approach
- Review and implement improved slotting strategies based on inventory turns flow analysis
- Schedule and deploy adequate staffing levels to inventory control activities and pick accuracy matrix
- Oversee cycle count protocols to improve inventory accuracy in warehouse and yard

Inbound Coordination, Returns, Defects and Receiving Activities

- Ensure inbound product is processed accurately and timely with delivery appointments
- Coordinate and execute all returns, defects, damages and shortages to support dealer reverse logistics program
- Book and Coordinate receiving deliveries
- Investigate and resolve receiving discrepancies
- Process all damage, defect and dealer returns, claims and arrange for disposition of products

Order Assembly, Service, Freight and Shipping

- Arrange and coordinate transportation as necessary to meet service and cost level expectations
- Ensure outbound orders are assembled and shipped to destination on time and accurately
- Ensure that service and delivery schedules are met
- Develop and maintain freight costs and freight carrier relationships to meet service and cost guidelines
- Ensure all shipping criteria are met and fit the service need to minimize delays or disruption





Staff Supervision and Scheduling

- Supervise and direct warehouse and yard staff on priority of work
- Manage work hours and ensure staffing levels meet the required workloads and schedule with minimal overtime
- Ensure that the warehouse and yard staff understands the department goals and objectives
- Coach and monitor employee performance to ensure all employees are meeting job standards

Facility, Equipment, Safety, Compliance

- Ensure all Material Handling Equipment (MHE) is well maintained and meets safety standards
- Train and supervise operations personnel in safe working procedures
- Work closely with staff and available sources to develop and maintain a safe, conscious work environment including regular checks of systems and procedures
- Lead and participate in the safety committee that is joint between labour and management
- Ensure the security of the facility is maintained and action any vulnerabilities to security and liability concerns

Qualifications

- Grade 12 education
- Various Certifications: Forklift, Spill Clean-up, First-aid, TDG, WHMIS, Accident Investigation
- 2-5 years experience in warehouse operations and distribution
- Working knowledge of WMS and Microsoft Office Suite products
