The Kootenay Co-op is looking for a full-time Maintenance Custodian to join our Facilities team. Are you a team player who can perform basic maintenance and handyperson tasks with a sense of humour? Previous custodial experience is an asset, but willing to train the right, enthusiastic person. This is a 28-32 hours per week position. Evenings + weekends are required.

SKILLS + QUALIFICATIONS

· Janitorial and cleanliness upkeep across retail, staff, and public areas

· Basic maintenance of HVAC, refrigeration, and water systems

· Minor repairs to equipment, fixtures, carpentry, and store signage

· Secure operation of power tools, ladders, and related equipment

· Strong time management, attention to detail, and reliability

· Independent problem‑solving with timely response to urgent issues

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions

· Comfort working in fast‑paced retail environments

· Professional, cooperative communication and customer service

· Positive, calm, solution‑focused attitude aligned with cooperative values

DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES

· Clean and sanitize floors, restrooms, and common areas.

· Perform routine maintenance tasks such as monthly maintenance,



light repairs and fixture replacements.

· Monitor and restock cleaning supplies and report inventory needs.

· Ensure safe use and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment.

· Assist with snow removal, lawn care, and seasonal maintenance.

· Respond promptly to maintenance pages, requests and emergencies.

· Ensure compliance with all internal and external health and safety regulations, as well as employee policies and procedures

· Other duties as required

Rate: $18.25-20.00/hour depending on experience.
