Afterschool Program Driver

Pay: $23–$25 per hour, higher wages negotiable based on experience and qualifications

Schedule: Weekday afternoons during school pickup hours

Alliance Taekwondo is looking for a reliable, responsible, and caring driver to join our afterschool program. Your primary role will be to transport children safely and efficiently from their schools to our facility.

We are looking for someone who takes road safety seriously, enjoys working with children, and helps every child feel welcome and cared for. A Class F driver’s licence is strongly preferred.

Primary Responsibilities

- Pick up children from designated schools and transport them safely to Alliance Taekwondo.
- Follow pickup schedules and routes efficiently while prioritizing safe driving and obeying all traffic laws.
- Maintain accurate attendance and ensure every child is accounted for at each pickup and drop-off.
- Ensure children use seatbelts properly and enter and exit the vehicle safely.
- Complete routine vehicle safety checks, maintain a clean vehicle, and promptly report maintenance concerns.
- Communicate clearly with staff about attendance, delays, route changes, or concerns.
- Follow established pickup, drop-off, and child supervision procedures.

Requirements and Expectations

- A valid Ontario driver’s licence appropriate for the vehicle being operated; Class F strongly preferred.
- A clean driving record and willingness to provide a driver’s abstract.
- Dependable availability during weekday afternoon school pickup hours.
- Punctuality, good judgment, and a strong sense of responsibility.
- A patient, friendly,



and caring approach to working with children.
- The ability to maintain a calm, orderly environment and respond appropriately to unexpected situations.
- Professional communication and the ability to work well with staff, families, and school personnel.
- Willingness to complete a vulnerable sector check before beginning work.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

- Previous experience driving a school bus, shuttle, passenger van, or similar vehicle.
- Experience transporting or supervising children.
- Experience in an afterschool program, childcare setting, camp, school, or youth sports program.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.

Opportunities for Additional Hours

Depending on your experience, interests, availability, and program needs, you may be able to extend your hours through:

- Afterschool program support: Helping supervise children, lead activities, and maintain a safe, positive workplace.
- Taekwondo instruction: Candidates with Taekwondo teaching or instructing experience may be considered for additional hours as teaching staff.
- Reception and administration: Welcoming families, answering inquiries, assisting with registrations, and supporting daily office tasks.

Taekwondo experience is not required for the driving position. Our main priorities are safe and efficient driving, reliability, and a caring attitude toward children.
