Salary : $25.00 - $27 (Plus, $6 per hour as per the Provincial Government Wage Enhancement Initiative) and other Benefits as per Lheidli Littles' Lodge Policy.
Type of Position : Full Time permanent
Location & Hours : Lheidli Littles’ Lodge, 1950 Gorse Street, Prince George BC.
Work schedule will vary based on need. Must be available between 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM (40 hours/weekly).
About Our Community:
The Lheidli T’enneh (historically known as the Fort George Indian Band) is a community that is built on and around the strength of its people. T’enneh means “The People”. They are a sub-group of the “Dakelh” people whose traditional territory includes the city of Prince George, British Columbia. The name “Lheidli” means “The People from the Confluence of the River” in the Carrier language, referring to how the Nechako River enters the Fraser River at Prince George. The rivers spoken of are the Nee Incha Koh which means “river with strong undercurrents” and the Ltha Koh, the Big Mouth River.

Job Description
We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Early Childhood Educator (ECE) with a specialization in infant and toddler care to join our team. In this role, you will provide nurturing care and early learning experiences for children from birth to three years old. You will work closely with a team of educators to foster a positive, safe, and supportive environment where young children can grow and develop to their full potential.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
· Plan and implement developmentally appropriate educational programs for infants and toddlers, focusing on their cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development.
· Create a warm, safe, and engaging environment for infants and toddlers to explore and learn.
· Observe and document the developmental progress of each child, using observations to tailor activities that support their individual needs and milestones.
· Establish and maintain strong relationships with parents and guardians, communicating regularly about their child’s development and daily experiences.
· Provide nurturing care, including feeding, diapering, and comforting children as needed.
· Always ensure the health and safety of children by following the established safety protocols and procedures.
· Support children in developing key social skills, such as sharing, communication, and cooperation.
· Foster an environment that encourages positive behavior, setting transparent expectations and modeling appropriate behavior for children.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and well-equipped classroom environment that stimulates curiosity and exploration.
· Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a team-oriented atmosphere and support each other’s professional growth.
· Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay updated on best practices in infant and toddler education.
Knowledge & Skills Expectations
· Early Childhood Education (ECE) certification or diploma from a recognized institution.
· Specialization and experience in infants and toddler care is required.
· Strong knowledge of child development, especially in infants and toddlers.
· Experience working with infants and toddlers in an early childhood education setting (preferred).
· The ability to create and implement age-appropriate curriculum that supports developmental milestones.
· Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with young children.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Strong program planning, organization, and time management skills.
· Commitment to continual professional and personal development.
· Organized, self-motivated and able to work with a team and independently.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality.
· Ability to work with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
· Good work ethic and positive team attitude.
- Possession of A valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Possession of or willingness to obtain valid First Aid and CPR certifications.
- Must be willing to undergo a criminal record and vulnerable sector check.
Working Conditions:
- Work Environment: Classroom setting, including activities indoors and outdoors, as well as close interactions with children.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift children, engage in floor-level activities, bend, and perform physical tasks associated with childcare.
