Dean Group's Manufacturing division is now recruiting for Ovenroom Operators for one of our reputable clients in Guelph.

Pay Rate: $23.40/hour + $1.00/hour afternoon shift premium ($24.40/hour)
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 3:00pm - 11:00pm
About the Role
We are currently hiring an Ovenroom Operator. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing ingredients according to established recipes, operating and monitoring production equipment, maintaining accurate production records, and ensuring tools and work areas are kept clean and organized.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast paced production environment and performing physically demanding tasks throughout their shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of duties within the Baking Department, including operating the Cream Spreader, Batter System, and Crème System
- Measure and prepare ingredients according to established batter and crème recipes
- Lift and transfer bagged ingredients weighing approximately 50 lbs into mixing vessels, including flour, sugar, and dextrose
- Operate and monitor production machinery, responding appropriately to machine faults
- Assemble, disassemble, and clean tooling as required during production
- Maintain accurate records of material usage and production activities
- Monitor equipment and production processes to help ensure consistent product quality
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow all company procedures, food safety requirements, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Perform other duties as required within the Baking Department
Requirements:
- Previous machine operation, food production, manufacturing, or a related background is an asset
- Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift
- Comfortable performing repetitive tasks and physical work
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and established procedures
- Ability to accurately maintain production and material use records
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to identify and respond to equipment issues
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Robust time management and organizational skills
- Comfortable working in a fast paced production environment
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic
GMP & Food Safety Requirements
As this is a food manufacturing environment, all employees are required to follow strict GMP and food safety procedures:
- No jewelry on the production floor, including earrings, watches, rings, necklaces, or bracelets
- No nail polish
- No food, gum, or candy on the production floor
- No cell phones on the production floor
- Hairnets and beard nets must be worn as required
- Company provided uniforms, hearing protection, and safety glasses must be worn as required
- Latex or cotton gloves must be worn when handling product
- Employees are required to provide and wear CSA approved safety shoes
