Job Title: Business Development Manager

Location: Delta, BC

Reports To: Sales Manager

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent, In-Person

About Us

We are a small local Freight Forwarding firm that specializes in customized and integrated shipping solutions all around the world. We provide our customers with a seamless shipping experience in the complex world of logistics. At Cargo Dynamics Logistics Inc., our mission is to build long-term relationships with our clients and overseas partners by providing service that consistently exceeds expectations.

Job Summary

We are looking for a driven and commercially minded Business Development & Account Manager to join our growing team. This is a dual-mandate role designed for a self-starter who thrives equally in front of new prospects and in cultivating long-term client partnerships.

You will manage an existing portfolio of accounts — ensuring retention, satisfaction, and organic growth — while simultaneously hunting and closing new business. This is not a role for order-takers; we are looking for a true hunter-farmer who takes ownership of the full commercial cycle.

This role is best suited to someone with a proven track record in freight forwarding or 3PL sales who understands incoterms, mode-of-transport trade-offs, customs requirements, and how to build a compelling value proposition in a competitive market.

Key Responsibilities

New Business Development

- Identify, research, and target prospective clients across industries with significant import/export or domestic freight needs
- Build and manage a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities using CRM tools; consistently progress deals through the sales cycle
- Conduct in-depth discovery meetings to understand shipper pain points and design tailored freight solutions (air, ocean, ground, customs brokerage)
- Prepare and present competitive proposals, rate sheets,

and service agreements; lead contract negotiations through to close
- Represent the company at industry trade shows, freight associations, and networking events to generate leads and build brand presence
- Collaborate closely with operations, pricing, and customs teams to develop accurate, competitive, and operationally viable quotes
- Meet or exceed individual new revenue and shipment volume targets

Account Management & Retention

- Serve as the single point of contact and trusted advisor for an existing book of business; build deep, multi-stakeholder relationships
- Liaise with Operations Team to monitor shipment KPIs exception reports, and service levels; escalate and resolve issues before they impact client satisfaction
- Identify organic growth opportunities within existing accounts — additional lanes, modes, origins/destinations, or ancillary services
- Renegotiate renewals and rate agreements in a timely manner; maintain competitive positioning while protecting margin
- Ensure all account data, contacts, and activity logs are maintained accurately and up to date in the CRM
- Act as an internal advocate for your clients — liaising with operations, customs, and finance to deliver on commitments
- Provide weekly pipeline updates and monthly revenue forecasts to the Sales Manager
- Maintain accurate records of all client interactions, proposals, and contract terms in the company CRM
- Track competitive market intelligence and communicate trends, rate shifts,

and opportunity areas to internal stakeholders
- Participate in sales team meetings, strategy sessions, and ongoing training initiatives

Skills and Qualifications:

- Minimum 3 year of direct sales experience
- Minimum 3 years experience in freight forwarding, 3PL, customs brokerage, or international logistics
- Demonstrated history of winning new business in a hunter role, not solely reactive or account-servicing functions
- Solid understanding of international shipping modes: ocean FCL/LCL, air freight, cross-border trucking, and customs clearance
- Working knowledge of Incoterms 2020 and their commercial and operational implications
- Experience managing a book of accounts with accountability for revenue retention and growth
- Proficiency with CRM platforms; comfortable with pipeline reporting and forecasting
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Sharepoint, Teams and Excel
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong commercial acumen — able to build a rate, understand margin, and negotiate effectively

Working Conditions & Expectations

This role requires regular client-facing activity including in-person meetings, site visits, and occasional industry events. Some travel may be required. The candidate must be comfortable managing time independently across both proactive outbound activity and reactive client service demands simultaneously.

Given the time-sensitive nature of international freight, occasional availability outside standard business hours may be expected to support key clients during shipment exceptions or critical escalations.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year

Perks:

- Company events
- Dental care
- Extended health care
- On-site parking
- Paid time off
- RRSP match
- Vision care

Work Location: Remote
