STRUCTURAL STEEL WELDER/FABRICATOR

Job Summary

Arctech Welding + Machining is looking for an experienced Structural Steel Welder/Fabricator to join our shop team in Charlie Lake, BC. This role is focused on structural steel fabrication, layout, fitting, shop welding, and general fabrication work. The ideal candidate will have experience working with steel, reading drawings, operating fabrication tools and equipment, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Responsibilities

· Fabricate structural steel components including pipe supports, pipe racks, access platforms, railings, ladders, barrel docks, and related assemblies

· Perform general fabrication duties including welding repairs to trucks and equipment, gouging cracks, fabricating brackets, and completing miscellaneous shop repairs

· Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and fabrication details

· Safely operate hand tools, power tools, air tools, overhead cranes, plasma cutting equipment, and oxy/fuel cutting equipment

· Assist with bobcat, loader, or telehandler operation as required; training may be provided

· Work safely while standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, crawling, and lifting items up to and over 25 kg

· Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area

· Maintain and update company training and safety documentation

· Work independently or as part of a team while meeting production deadlines

Requirements

· Journeyman Welder certification or Red Seal endorsement is preferred; applicants with a proven extended period of structural steel welding/fabrication experience greater than 5 years will also be considered

· Must currently be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident,



or resident of Canada with valid authorization to work in Canada

· High School Diploma or GED

· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to the shop in Charlie Lake

· CWB certification for steel welding preferred

· Experience with GMAW and MCAW/FCAW welding processes for steel

· Strong mathematical understanding as it relates to layout and fabrication

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and fabrication details

· High attention to detail and accuracy

· Robust verbal, listening, and written communication skills

· Ability to organize work, manage time, and meet deadlines
