We are seeking an Intermediate Estimator with concrete flatwork experience to join our growing construction team in Calgary, Alberta. The estimator will be responsible for pricing residential, light industrial, and light commercial concrete projects, from takeoff through to final proposal, supporting profitable and accurate bidding.

Key Responsibilities

- Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, and site information for residential, light industrial, and light commercial concrete flatwork projects.
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs for flatwork, slabs, driveways, sidewalks, curbs, stairs, and related structural concrete elements.
- Develop accurate cost estimates, including labour, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and general conditions for each project.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations; maintain and update unit rates and cost databases.
- Prepare clear, competitive proposals and bid submissions, including scopes, clarifications, and exclusions.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client/consultant meetings as required.
- Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and ownership to hand off successful bids, including budgets, production rates, clear scopes, and key assumptions.
- Assist with change order pricing, budget updates, and cost analysis during project execution.
- Track win/loss ratios and provide feedback to improve estimating accuracy and hit rates.
- Support the development and refinement of standardized estimating templates, assemblies, and processes.





Qualifications & Experience

- 3–7 years of estimating experience in concrete flatwork or closely related construction (civil, structural, or building construction), ideally in the Calgary or Alberta market.
- Strong understanding of residential and light commercial/light industrial concrete scopes, including forming, placing, finishing, reinforcement, and site prep.
- Diploma or degree in Construction Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline is an asset but equivalent field experience will be considered.
- Proficiency with digital takeoff and estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift/Bluebeam or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
- Solid understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building codes relevant to concrete work.
- Robust numerical, analytical, and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work under bid deadlines, manage multiple tenders, and prioritize effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for dealing with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and ability to attend site visits as needed.

Compensation

- Remuneration will be offered based on experience.
- This role may support part-time (~30 hours per week) candidates, flexible working hours, and/or hybrid working locations (i.e.; work from home 2-3 days per week).
- Benefit plan is also offered.

Pay: $55,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
