This position is responsible for safely driving seniors that live at The Parkway Retirement Community to outings and personal excursions. The position would be Monday to Friday with hours varying from 6-8 hours per day.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Several years’ experience in driving a bus. A valid Manitoba Class 4 or higher driver license and clear drivers abstract. Experience in working with seniors. Experience in preventative maintenance for a 16 passenger bus. CPR/Emergency First Aid and City of Winnipeg Police Check with vulnerable sector is mandatory.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Operate the shuttle bus in a secure and efficient manner.

· Pick-up and drop off seniors.

· Assist seniors safely in and out of the bus.

· Safely load and secure walkers and wheelchairs.

· Maintain the exterior and interior of the bus as required.

· Ensure that the bus is filled with fuel.

· Ensure the preventative maintenance of the bus.





· Co-operate with other staff in the delivery of services to residents.

· Advise of any requirements for maintenance or repairs.

· Report any unusual or difficult situations by way of a written report.

· Represent the organization both formally and informally in a professional manner.

· Assist the maintenance department in odd jobs such as shoveling, cleaning off cars and pulling weeds.

· Carry on other relevant tasks as they may occur from time to time as directed by the Executive Director.

· Communicate with Vehicle Service Department to organize necessary bus repairs.

· Organize the departure times for residents requesting transportation to appointments and communicate clearly with residents regarding their departure and pick-up times.
