Part-Time Accountant

25 hours/week | 3 days per week | Flexible Schedule | Calgary, AB

Aspen Creek Designer Homes is a growing custom home builder in Calgary, and we’re looking for an experienced Part-Time Accountant to join our team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who knows their way around accounting, enjoys having ownership over their work, and is looking for a flexible 3-day-per-week schedule without giving up a great wage or interesting work.

We’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running, work independently, and become a trusted part of our small and collaborative team.

What You'll Be Doing This isn't a "sit in the corner and enter invoices all day" accounting job. You'll have a broad role and the opportunity to work directly with management and be involved in the bigger financial picture of the business.

You'll be responsible for things like:

- Managing general ledger accounting and full-cycle accounting
- Preparing journal entries, reconciliations and supporting working papers
- Completing bank, balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations
- Managing month-end, quarter-end and year-end processes
- Preparing monthly financial statements and management reports
- Supporting AP, AR and payroll accounting as needed
- Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting
- Preparing year-end working papers and schedules
- Preparing and filing corporate GST returns
- Ensuring GST accounts and other tax-related accounts are accurate and reconciled
- Preparing and/or coordinating corporate income tax filings
- Working with our external tax professionals when required




- Monitoring tax deadlines and making sure filings are accurate and on time
- Reviewing transactions for appropriate GST treatment
- Assisting with year-end and audit requirements
- Looking for ways to make our accounting processes better, simpler and more efficient
- Working with management and other departments to help solve accounting and financial questions

What You'll Bring We're looking for someone experienced enough to take ownership of the accounting function without needing to be micromanaged.

You should have

- CPA designation or equivalent accounting experience
- Strong full-cycle accounting and general ledger experience
- Solid month-end and year-end experience
- Experience with corporate tax preparation and compliance
- Experience preparing and filing GST returns
- Strong understanding of GST and its application to business transactions
- Experience preparing year-end working papers for corporate tax filings
- Strong reconciliation and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- The ability to work independently and manage deadlines
- Strong communication skills
- QuickBooks Online (QBO) experience
- Strong Excel skills
- Experience with Google Workspace/Google Suite

Experience in construction, development or home building would be a definite asset, but it's not a requirement. Why You'll Like It Here
