Full time, on site. $90,000 to $110,000 depending on experience. Start as soon as possible.

Good Bread is a family owned wholesale bakery in northeast Calgary. We bake for restaurants, grocers and cafes across the city, we run our own retail bakery, and we are opening a cafe. Three companies, about 75 people on payroll, and a business that has outgrown its spreadsheets.

Our controller is moving on. She built the books we run on and she is staying to hand them over properly, so the sooner you start, the more of the job you learn from the person who did it.

The job

You own the books for all three companies. Biweekly payroll for about 75 people in Ceridian Powerpay. Daily payables and receivables. Bank reconciliations. Month end close and monthly statements in Sage 50. GST, source deductions, WCB and the rest of the CRA and Alberta calendar, on time, every time. Cash flow, and the relationship with our bank.

Then the part that makes this more than bookkeeping. We are building our own operations system, from invoice capture through to costing and production planning, and the accounting side of it will be yours to shape. The owner is a baker who reads the numbers closely and wants an accountant who will tell him what they mean: which product margins are moving, where the overhead is going, what the month is really saying under the noise.

You

- Five or more years running full cycle accounting on your own, ideally for more than one company at once




- Sage 50 and a Canadian payroll platform (Powerpay or similar), hands on, not supervised
- Alberta and federal filings from memory: GST, payroll remittances, WCB, year end working papers for the external accountant
- Comfortable with a bank and a cash flow forecast
- CPA or CPA in progress is an asset, not a requirement. What matters is that you have done this job, unsupervised, and the books were clean
- Food, manufacturing or hospitality background is a plus
