Accounting Manager / Senior Bookkeeper

About Arro Crushing

Arro Crushing is a growing mobile aggregate crushing company serving customers across Ontario.

We are hiring an experienced Accounting Manager / Senior Bookkeeper to own our day-to-day accounting cycle and provide management with accurate, timely financial information.

This is not a basic bookkeeping or data-entry role.

We need someone who can close the month, manage cash-flow forecasting, improve job costing and explain what the numbers mean.

The Role

You will work closely with our Accounting Administrator, external CPA and company owner.

Our Accounting Administrator handles invoicing, receivables, payables, collections, vendor communication and transaction entry. You will own the higher-level accounting work, including:

- Payroll and payroll reconciliations
- Bank, credit-card, loan and balance-sheet reconciliations
- Month-end close and adjusting entries
- Financial statements and management reporting
- Weekly 13-week cash-flow forecasting
- Budget-to-actual reporting
- Job costing and profitability analysis
- Accounting controls and process improvement
- Year-end preparation and CPA support

Our external CPA will continue to handle corporate tax, year-end accounting and specialized advice. Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting and Payroll

- Review transaction coding, receivables and payables.
- Record accruals, prepaids, depreciation, loan interest and adjusting entries.
- Maintain an accurate chart of accounts.
- Process or oversee payroll, including overtime, premiums, LOA, vacation, deductions and taxable benefits.
- Maintain payroll liabilities, remittances and records of employment.
- Complete month-end close by the agreed deadline.

Reporting and Cash Flow

- Prepare monthly profit and loss, balance-sheet and cash-flow statements.
- Report results against budget and explain significant variances.

- Maintain a weekly 13-week cash flow forecast.
- Track expected receipts, payroll, taxes, debt payments, equipment costs and capital spending.
- Identify cash requirements and financial problems early.
- Support a weekly financial review with the owner.

Job Costing and Controls

- Improve job costing accuracy across labour, fuel, equipment, trucking, parts, subcontractors and other direct costs.
- Report profitability by job, customer and crusher spread.
- Calculate actual cost per tonne and gross profit by job.
- Work with operations to correct missing or inaccurate information.
- Maintain approval controls for bills, expenses, payroll changes and payments.
- Improve receipt, invoice and expense capture in QuickBooks Online.
- Document recurring procedures and cross-train with the Accounting Administrator.

What Success Looks Like

- The books remain accurate and current.
- All balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly.
- Payroll is accurate and on time.
- Month-end statements are completed by the 10th business day, progressing toward the 7th.
- The 13-week cash flow forecast is updated weekly.
- Management receives dependable job costing information.
- Financial risks and cash requirements are identified early.
- Year end files are organized and ready for the CPA.

Qualifications

- Five or more years of full cycle bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Strong QuickBooks Online experience.
- Proven experience with payroll, reconciliations, month end close and financial reporting.

- Ability to build and maintain cash flow forecasts.
- Strong problem solving, organization and follow through.
- Ability to explain financial information clearly to non accountants.
- Practical AI skills and willingness to use modern accounting tools.

Experience in construction, aggregates, heavy equipment, trucking, contracting, job costing, equipment financing or multi location operations is preferred. A CPA designation is welcome but not required. Practical accounting ability, judgment and ownership matter more.

The Person We Are Looking For

You may be a Senior Bookkeeper ready to own an accounting function or an experienced Accounting Manager who enjoys working closely with an owner-operated business.

You take responsibility for getting accurate answers, investigate discrepancies, bring forward recommended solutions and improve processes instead of working around problems.

Schedule and Location

This is a hybrid position based in Milverton, Ontario, with an expected 50/50 split between the office and home. Additional home based work may be considered based on experience.

The position is approximately 30 to 40 hours per week, with increased flexibility once the role is established and deadlines are consistently met.
