Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Life Skills Worker to empower individuals to regain independence and improve their quality of life. In this vital role, you will provide personalized support, facilitate skill development, and promote positive social engagement for clients navigating the challenges of acquired brain injuries. Your dedication will help clients build confidence, develop daily living skills, and achieve their personal goals in a supportive environment.

Shift schedule: Days, evenings, and out-of-town travel is required. Our service area is East Kootenay excluding Cranbrook and Kimberley.

Duties: Assist clients with their physical, economic, vocational, recreational, social, emotional, and daily life skill development. Assist clients to achieve the greatest degree of independence and quality of life possible. In accordance with established treatment plans developed by IHA Case Coordinators, work with clients in their communities and homes in person, developing, maintaining, or restoring daily living skills, and participate in activities to support skill development such as training, modeling,



and support.

Qualifications: Grade 12, certificate in a field relevant to the position such as Community Mental Health Certificate, Human Service Worker Certificate, Social Services Worker Certificate, etc., and one year of recent related experience working with ABI clients; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Skills

- Strong understanding of acquired brain injury rehabilitation principles and strategies.
- Proficiency in communication skills, including active listening and clear verbal expression.
- Knowledge of caregiving techniques that promote dignity and respect for clients’ autonomy.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage client schedules, documentation, and progress tracking.

Pay: $28.46 per hour

Expected hours: 21.0 per week
