Hours of Work: 80 hours bi-weekly

Shift Work Required: Yes

Rate of Pay: $32.95 per hour The start date will follow the selection process.

Main Function: Perform general maintenance work at CGS's Airport as directed.

Characteristic: Under the general supervision of the Airport Operations Supervisor or Designate and the day to day direction of the Airport Operations Serviceperson/ AFFS Lead Hand.

Duties:

1. Repair, maintain, or construct physical structures such as buildings, partitions, storage sheds, counters, guardrails, signs, fencing, concrete forms, ground and runway repairs and minor electrical repairs.
2. Assist mechanic as directed.
3. Operate airport vehicular equipment or equipment located in buildings.
4. Operate standard power or hand tools.
5. Maintain water and sanitary systems.
6. Collect and dispose of refuse when directed.
7. Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS's Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
8. Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education and Training:

- Successful completion of Secondary School (Grade XII) Education.
- Must be in possession or able to acquire a Restricted Radio-telephone Operator's Certificate.
- Must qualify to receive a Restricted Area Identification Card.
- Must be able to acquire an Airside Vehicle Operator's Permit.
- Must be in possession of or be able to acquire a St. John Ambulance First Aid Certificate.

Experience:

- Minimum of three (3) years of heavy equipment operations and related maintenance experience.





Other Requirements:

- Ability to read and interpret simple plans, sketches, drawings and blueprints.
- Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
- Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
- Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history.
- May require the use of a CGS vehicle on CGS business. Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid Class D driver's licence with Air Brake Endorsement and have an acceptable driving record.
