Treatment Room Assistant (Animal Care Attendant)

Yonge Sheppard Animal Hospital is growing, and we are looking for a full time Treatment Room Assistant to join our team.

The Role

Our Treatment Room Assistants work alongside our veterinarians and RVTs to help care for patients and keep the hospital clean, organized, stocked and running smoothly.

Responsibilities include

- Providing animal care and husbandry
- Safely and humanely restraining patients using low-stress techniques
- Assisting veterinarians and RVTs with treatments and procedures
- Monitoring patients and accurately recording appetite, weight, walks, urination and bowel movements
- Cleaning and preparing treatment, surgical, dental and kennel areas
- Cleaning, wrapping and sterilizing surgical instruments
- Restocking supplies, unpacking orders and completing laundry
- Maintaining a clean, organized and well-prepared hospital

This is a physically active, hands-on role that includes contact with urine, feces and other bodily fluids—the less glamorous but very real accessories of veterinary medicine. It also involves standing for periods and safely assisting with lifting and moving patients weighing more than 20 kg, using team lifts or equipment when appropriate.

- Is dependable, organized and punctual
- Is eager to learn and receptive to feedback
- Is at least 18 years old
- Has a high-school diploma or equivalent
- Is comfortable learning and using computer software; familiarity with EzyVet and Notion is an asset

Previous veterinary experience is an asset but is not required. We are happy to train someone with the right attitude, work ethic and interest in veterinary medicine.
