About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Application Architect to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in enterprise application architecture, software development, system integration, and solution design.

This role will be responsible for defining application architecture, establishing technical standards, and designing scalable, secure, maintainable, and high-performing solutions. The Application Architect will work closely with Developers, Business Analysts, Solution Architects, Infrastructure teams, Security teams, and business stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and define enterprise application architecture for new and existing applications.
- Translate business and technical requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable application architecture solutions.
- Develop application architecture diagrams, integration designs, technical specifications, and solution documentation.
- Define architectural principles, development standards, design patterns, and application development best practices.
- Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to development teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Design solutions involving web applications, backend services, REST APIs, microservices, databases, and enterprise integrations.
- Evaluate existing applications and recommend improvements related to architecture, scalability, security, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with Developers, Business Analysts, Data Architects, Solution Architects, Security teams, Infrastructure teams, QA teams, and other stakeholders.
- Define integration patterns and strategies for communication between internal applications, external systems, APIs, and third-party services.




- Review application designs and source code to ensure alignment with established architecture standards and best practices.
- Support application modernization, system integration, cloud migration, and technology transformation initiatives.
- Provide architectural guidance for authentication, authorization, application security, logging, monitoring, and error handling.
- Identify technical risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Evaluate new technologies, frameworks, platforms, and development tools based on organizational requirements.
- Ensure application solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, privacy, accessibility, and compliance requirements.
- Support performance optimization, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex technical and production issues.
- Participate in technical and architecture review meetings and communicate architectural decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, technical discussions, and solution reviews.
- Maintain application architecture documentation, technical standards, and architectural decision records.

Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in application development, application architecture, solution architecture, or a similar technical role.
- Strong experience designing and supporting enterprise-scale applications and distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of software architecture principles,



design patterns, and enterprise application development practices.
- Experience with technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, and modern web application frameworks.
- Solid understanding of API design, system integration, and service-oriented architectures.
- Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or similar platforms.
- Understanding of authentication and authorization technologies such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, and identity management solutions.
- Experience designing secure, scalable, highly available, and maintainable application solutions.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or equivalent is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, containers, and automated deployment processes.
- Understanding of application security, performance optimization, monitoring, logging, and disaster recovery concepts.
- Experience producing architecture diagrams, technical specifications, integration designs, and solution documentation.
- Experience evaluating technologies and making architectural recommendations based on business and technical requirements.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Excellent analytical, architectural, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to provide technical leadership while collaborating effectively across multiple teams.
- Experience working with government or public sector organizations is considered an asset.

Pay: $40.00-$85.90 per hour Work Location: Hybrid remote in Brampton, ON L6Y 2Y2
