Position: Asset Protection Investigator

Position Type: Full time Preferred; Part-Time May Be Considered

Location: Sudbury, ON

Successful candidates may also have opportunities to work additional tactical security shifts.

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and observant Asset Protection Investigator to support safety in high-traffic retail environments.



The ideal candidate demonstrates strong situational awareness, effective communication skills, and the ability to stay composed under pressure.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Conduct surveillance and patrol within retail environments in accordance with site-specific Asset Protection procedures.
- Observe customer activity and identify behaviours or circumstances that may indicate theft, fraud, safety concerns, or other security risks. (Training provided/required)
- Provide outstanding customer service while on site, ensuring customers and staff feel safe and welcomed.
- Maintain strong situational awareness while working discreetly and professionally within the retail environment.
- Work with and communicate regularly with site management and supervisors to maintain the highest level of protection at all times.
- Interact professionally with individuals who may display challenging, unpredictable, or unusual behaviours.
- Use verbal de-escalation techniques and recognize when disengagement and police involvement are necessary.
- Complete accurate and detailed notebook entries, incident reports, and other required documentation.

Requirements:

- Valid Ontario Security Guard License
- Valid First Aid, CPR, and AED certification
- Valid Smart Serve certification




- Minimum 1 year of experience working as a licensed security guard
- Prior undercover asset protection or retail crime experience is strongly preferred
- Must have the ability to travel independently between multiple sites; access to a personal vehicle is considered an asset
- Certified in Use of Force and De-escalation, or able to complete training within 30 days of employment
- Familiarity with the Criminal Code of Canada and Trespass to Property Act
- Have the ability to use your words to de-escalate situations, and recognize when safety is at risk requiring disengagement and Police involvement.
- Strong focus on customer service, both with the client and their staff, along with their customers.

Availability Requirements:

- Full-time availability is preferred, part-time availability may be considered
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and rotating shifts
- Must be willing to work at multiple client locations within the Sudbury area
- Additional tactical security shifts may be available based on operational requirements and employee availability

Pay: $18.00-$19.65 per year
