Nous sommes à la recherche d'un physiothérapeute bilingue qui communique bien en anglais et en français pour travailler avec une clientèle de soins de longue durée au sein de la maison de retraite Stonemont Retirement Lifestyles à Ottawa. La langue principale sera le Français. Vous travaillerez avec une population de Soeurs Chrétiennes qui sont chaleureuses et aimables.

Nous cherchons donc un physiothérapeute qui aime travailler avec les personnes âgées et qui saura qui fera son travail avec joie et l’attention qu’on peut vouloir donner à ses propres grand-parents.

The shift is 1 day per week for 6 hours, Tuesday or Friday, with the possibility for occasional vacation coverage for an additional 6 hours per week at different times of the year. Shifts are usually 9-3:30 PM but the hours can be somewhat versatile.

Your main duties will be to assess and treat a variety of long term care patients (usually 80-100+ years old), most of whom walk with walkers or are wheelchair bound. Cases span from patients who are relatively independent and can do their own exercises to patients who are wheelchair bound and need full care. You will work in a team with a physiotherapy assistant and an OT and see cases with ortho, neuro and cardio-respiratory issues (back pain, sciatica, neck pain, dementia, stroke, difficulties with transfers).





Much of the work involves helping residents maximize their mobility and control or minimize pain. The working language is French and you will chart electronically in English.

Sessions with each patient last 30-45 minutes within their room and you get extra charting time during each shift.

Occasionally you might also treat a younger geriatric population (60-80 years old) with mostly orthopedic issues in a clinic setting with a hi-low bed and all the usual equipment. Our treatment focus is usually with exercises and manual therapy but we also occasionally use Ultrasound, TENS, hot packs and also have access to a Nustep and other gym equipment.

You will treat some patients on your own and some patients with our physio assistant for whom you will create and monitor treatment plans and follow and re-assess patient progress.

**You must be registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario, speak and understand French, and live in the Ottawa area to be considered for this position.

Pay: $65.00-$70.00 per hour
