Job Overview

Koala Insulation of Edmonton is looking for an experienced Blown-In Insulation Lead to operate a dedicated insulation crew and help us expand our installation capacity. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows blown-in insulation, takes pride in quality workmanship, and is ready to take ownership of a truck and crew.

You will work alongside an insulation labourer and be responsible for running jobs safely, efficiently and professionally from arrival through final inspection. We are looking for someone who can lead when leadership is needed, work alongside the crew when there is work to be done, and continue learning as our company grows.

Duties

- Lead a two-person blown-in insulation crew on residential and commercial projects.
- Review work orders, confirm site conditions and organize the crew for an efficient installation.
- Set up, operate and troubleshoot professional-grade insulation blowing equipment.
- Install blown-in fiberglass and cellulose to specified depth, coverage and R-value requirements, with occasional batt insulation, poly/vapour barrier installation and insulation removal as required.
- Complete attic preparation, air sealing and related insulation work as required by the project scope.
- Direct and work alongside a labourer while maintaining a safe, productive workflow and a good work pace to complete scheduled jobs efficiently and in a timely manner without compromising safety or quality.
- Protect customer homes and property, maintain a clean job site and complete required job photos/documentation.
- Perform a final quality check and maintain the truck, tools and equipment in safe working condition.

Requirements

- Previous hands-on blown-in insulation experience and experience operating blowing equipment.
- Ability and willingness to lead a crew while remaining a hands-on member of the team.




- Robust understanding of insulation depth, coverage, R-value and common attic installation practices.
- A positive, can-do attitude, willingness to learn and a solution-focused approach to challenges.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills and a professional, respectful approach with coworkers and customers.
- Valid driver's licence and clean driver's abstract.
- Current CSTS 2020 certification, or willingness and ability to obtain it within one week of hire.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to troubleshoot equipment issues.

Assets

- Current First Aid/CPR certification.
- Batt insulation, air sealing or attic remediation experience.
- Experience with both fiberglass and cellulose blown-in insulation.
- Previous construction or insulation crew-lead experience.
- Experience reading construction drawings or technical specifications.

Working Conditions

This is a hands-on, physically active construction role involving work in attics, crawl spaces and other confined areas. Work may be performed in hot, cold, dusty or dirty conditions and includes both insulation installation and removal. Candidates must be comfortable climbing ladders, working safely in attic spaces, lifting and carrying materials and equipment, and wearing required PPE.

Pay: $26.00-$32.00 per hour
