The West Vancouver Bylaw & Licensing Services Department has an opening for a temporary full-time Bylaw and Licensing Clerk. Reporting to the Manager of Bylaw and Licensing Services, this position will be primarily responsible for performing clerical duties related to the District’s new short-term rental licensing and enforcement program. This is a front-line position which will require contact with the public by telephone, email and/or in person.
Exceptional interpersonal skills are required to respond to complex and sensitive situations.
This position will also be responsible for supporting the functions of the Bylaw and Licensing Services Department including but not limited to performing general clerical duties, receiving and processing business licence applications, dog licence applications, parking tickets, commercial vehicle registration, residential parking permits, and performing accounting functions such as processing invoices, payments, and reconciling accounts.
The preferred candidate will possess thorough knowledge of related municipal bylaws and regulations and sound working knowledge of database programs including Microsoft Office software and Tempest. This position also coordinates with other departments, both internal and external, in the day-to-day operation of the department. The successful candidate has completed related administrative and computer courses and has experience in recordkeeping including handling and balancing of funds.
Direct experience with bylaw enforcement would be considered an asset.
The successful candidates are required to supply an acceptable police information check and a copy of their credentials.

35 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary)
Rate of Pay
$33.90 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits. This position has a pay structure with five steps which increase based on hours completed in the position.
