Position Summary

Keziah Childcare Centre is seeking caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Supply Childcare Staff to support our childcare programs on an as-needed basis.

Supply staff provide coverage when regular staff members are absent, during staff breaks, or when additional support is required within the centre. The successful candidate will work alongside Registered Early Childhood Educators and other team members to provide high-quality care, supervision, and support for children.

This is a supply/on-call position. Hours and shifts are based on the staffing needs of the centre and are not guaranteed.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist with the implementation of age-appropriate, play-based learning experiences.
- Support children’s physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and language development.
- Maintain active supervision of children at all times.
- Assist children with daily routines, including meals, toileting, diapering, dressing, rest periods, and transitions.
- Create and maintain a secure, welcoming, inclusive, and engaging environment.
- Support children’s participation in indoor and outdoor activities.
- Build positive and respectful relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Communicate professionally with staff, parents, and guardians as required.
- Follow all centre policies, procedures,



health and safety requirements, and licensing regulations.
- Maintain classroom cleanliness and ensure toys, equipment, and learning materials are properly cleaned and sanitized.
- Support children with diverse abilities, cultures, languages, and individual needs.
- Follow the direction of the classroom RECE, Supervisor, or designate.
- Report concerns regarding children’s health, safety, development, or well-being to the appropriate staff member.
- Perform other childcare-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

- Early Childhood Assistant certificate, diploma, or relevant childcare education is preferred but not required.
- Previous experience working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, or school-age children is an asset.
- Knowledge of Ontario’s How Does Learning Happen? framework is an asset.
- Basic understanding of the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 and applicable licensing requirements is an asset.
- Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification, or willingness to obtain it before starting employment.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check acceptable to the centre.
- Up-to-date immunization and medical documentation as required for employment in a licensed childcare setting.
- Ability to provide a satisfactory employment reference.
- Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and time-management skills.
- Patient, caring, dependable,



respectful, and professional.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.
- Ability to respond calmly and appropriately during emergencies.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a childcare team.
- Ability to lift children, sit on the floor, bend, stand, walk, and participate in indoor and outdoor activities.
- Ability to be flexible and work in different classrooms or age groups based on the needs of the centre.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working in a licensed childcare centre.
- Experience supporting children with special needs or diverse abilities.
- Training in behaviour guidance, child development, or inclusive childcare practices.
- Food Handler Certification is considered an asset.
- Additional language skills are considered an asset.

Supply Position Details

- Rate of Pay: $17.95-19.62 per hour
- This is a supply/on-call position.
- Hours are based on the operational and staffing needs of the centre.
- Hours are not guaranteed.
- Supply staff may be contacted to cover staff absences, vacations, breaks, or other staffing needs.
- Shifts and hours may vary from week to week.
- Candidates should have flexibility to work in different classrooms and with different age groups as required.

Pay: $17.95-$19.62 per hour
