Northern Rockies Child Development Association (NRCDA) is seeking a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Child/Youth With Support Needs Worker to provide individual and group support to children and youth with diverse abilities and support needs.

Position Details

Position: Child/Youth With Support Needs Worker

Employment Type: Part-Time

Hours: 12 hours per week

Wage: $25.49 per hour

Regular Schedule:

- Tuesday: 2:30–5:30 p.m.
- Wednesday: 2:30–5:30 p.m.
- Thursday: 2:30–5:30 p.m.
- Saturday: 12:00–3:00 p.m.

About the Role The Child/Youth With Support Needs Worker provides individual and group-based support to children and youth with diverse abilities and support needs. The successful applicant will help children and youth participate in recreational, social, community, and skill-building activities based on their individual strengths, interests, needs, and goals.

Support is individualized and may focus on building independence, communication, social connections, emotional regulation, confidence, daily living skills, and participation in the community.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include

- Providing individual one-to-one support.
- Facilitating small and larger group activities.
- Planning and participating in recreational and community-based activities.
- Supporting social and communication skill development.
- Helping children and youth develop independence and daily living skills.




- Encouraging positive peer relationships and friendships.
- Supporting emotional regulation and the development of positive coping strategies.
- Helping children and youth work toward individual goals and interests.
- Encouraging confidence, choice, independence, and self-advocacy.
- Supporting safe and meaningful participation in community activities.
- Creating a positive, respectful, inclusive, and welcoming environment.
- Working independently as well as collaboratively with other NRCDA team members.
- Following individual support plans, organizational policies, confidentiality requirements, and established safety procedures.
- Communicating relevant information regarding participation, progress, or support needs to the appropriate NRCDA staff.

Qualifications Education, training, or experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:
- Early Childhood Education (ECE/ECEA)
- Education Assistant
- Community Support Worker
- Child and Youth Care
- Social Services
- Disability Support
- Human Services or a related field

Experience working with children or youth with support needs, including individuals who have a diagnosis or are awaiting assessment or diagnosis, is considered an asset.



A combination of relevant education, training, and experience may be considered.

Requirements

Successful applicants must

- Be legally qualified to work in Canada.
- Be reliable and committed to working the scheduled hours.
- Be comfortable providing both individual and group support.
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrate a positive, respectful, patient, and inclusive approach when supporting children and youth.
- Have solid communication and interpersonal skills.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Successfully complete a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Have a valid driver's licence and reliable transportation if required for assigned activities.
