Client Engagement Worker (The Corner)

TNO - The Neighbourhood Organization (TNO) is a well-established community-based social and health service agency providing a wide range of programs and services supporting low-income and newcomer communities across Ontario and sometimes across different provinces through online services and referrals.

The Corner is a multi-service, inclusive hub governed by residents and service providers and is a unique, integrated service model between 20 partner organizations. It is the primary hub for Health Access St.

James

Town (HASJT) intake, referrals and service coordination and is aimed to enhance interdisciplinary care including primary care, improving access to health, social and community services in St.

James

Town.

The Neighbourhood

Organization leads this integrated service model comprising The Corner and HASJT. The Corner also includes @240, a community space focused on Reduce, Reuse and Repair (3Rs), community skill-building, workshops and volunteer-led activities. We are seeking a Client Engagement Worker to join our The Corner team in a full-time permanent role.

The ideal candidates will have a Social Service Diploma or equivalent formal training, along with 1–3 years of experience in a community health setting or a comparable combination. A strong understanding of harm reduction and Anti-Racism/Anti-Oppression (ARAO) frameworks is essential, along with experience supporting diverse populations—including newcomers, individuals with mental health and substance use challenges, isolated seniors, high-needs clients, adults with special needs, and members of the 2SLGBTQ community. Previous involvement in outreach and a demonstrated ability to support individuals facing multiple barriers to equitable care are essential. Candidates should possess strong interpersonal and crisis intervention skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment both independently and as part of a team.





Proficiency in computer use and fluency in English are required; fluency in a second language commonly spoken in the community is considered an asset.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide client engagement support at The Corner @200, welcoming clients, responding to inquiries, providing information about available services, and directing individuals to appropriate staff, programs and partner agencies.
- Registration of all current clients at The Corner and in the community, satellite sites to ensure the client navigates and access the services with ease in a safe and respectful manner.
- Work closely with the Holistic Intake & Navigation Counselor function at The Corner to update information on new/existing clients in the database and clarifying eligibility criteria.
- Engage proactively with residents, clients and service users, and responsible for supporting staff and partners with crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed.
- Keep up-to-date information on existing and new services, activities, and eligibility criteria for partner agency services available at The Corner
- Support health, social, settlement, food security, other community programs and activities operating at The Corner, including participant registration, information sharing and basic program support.
- Support The Corner programs including Reduce, Reuse and Repair (3Rs) activities such as bike repair, sewing/mending, DIY and other skill-building workshops.
- Coordinate program logistics, including space, materials, facilitators, volunteers, participant registration and outreach/promotion.
- Engage clients and understand their immediate needs, provide information about available services and programs
- Support data collection, attendance tracking, data pulls and basic reporting for programs and community activities.




- Assist in the maintenance of display areas and noticeboards.
- Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with partner agencies and service providers at The Corner
- Regular participation in community engagement activities
- Demonstrate a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, clients, families, etc.)

Screening – As a condition of employment, the successful applicant must complete a Vulnerable Sector Screening. Job Type: Full-Time permanent position.

Work Location(s): 200 Wellesley St East, Toronto, ON M4X-1G3 and other TNO locations.

Schedule: 35 hours per week including evenings and weekends.

Rate of Pay: $25 per hour.
