Reports To: Director of Strategic Growth and Compliance

Term: Part time, 12 Month Term

Compensation: $32.25 hourly

Start Date: As soon as a suitable candidate is found

Position Purpose

Citxw Nlaka'pamux Assembly (CNA) was created in 2013 as a powerful and unifying voice for eight Nlaka’pamux Bands regarding the Teck Highland Valley Copper Mine. It is governed by a Board of Directors appointed by the eight Participating Bands. Headquartered in Merritt, BC, with a workforce of over 60, CNA provides training and job readiness along with cultural, social, and technical programming to the over 3035 members of the eight Participating Bands.

The nłeʔképmx Cultural Awareness & Wellness Coordinator will provide dedicated coordination, facilitation, and implementation support for the continued development and pilot delivery of nłeʔképmx Cultural Awareness Training (nCAT). Working closely with Executive Management, Elders and Knowledge Keepers, cultural advisors, the nCAT Focus Group, consultants, and employer partners, this role will support culturally grounded curriculum development, employer engagement, evaluation, knowledge translation, and long-term sustainability planning across all phases of the project.

Primary Duties

- Coordinate day-to-day project activities, timelines, meetings, records, and deliverables across all project phases,

- Build and maintain respectful working relationships with Elders and Knowledge Keepers, cultural advisors, CNA staff, consultants, employer partners, and project participants,

- Support the establishment and ongoing coordination of the nCAT Focus Group and employer pilot cohorts,

- Coordinate cultural protocols, Elder engagement, review processes, and knowledge-sharing activities in accordance with direction from the Project Team,

- Support employer outreach and engagement, including identifying prospective employer partners, coordinating participation, and gathering information about workforce challenges and training needs,

- Contribute to the development, organization, review, and refinement of Tier 1 and Tier 2 curriculum, learning materials, facilitator resources, practical tools, and online content,

- Facilitate or co-facilitate pilot training sessions, structured dialogue, reflective activities, and scenario-based learning in a respectful and culturally safe manner,

- Coordinate facilitator practice sessions and training, including scheduling, materials, logistics, feedback, and follow-up,

- Administer and coordinate evaluation activities, including pre- and post-assessments, participant and employer feedback, facilitator observations,



and practice-change documentation,

- Maintain accurate, confidential, and well-organized project records, evaluation data, meeting notes, contact lists, and supporting documentation,

- Summarize project feedback, findings, lessons learned, and emerging outcomes to support reporting, curriculum refinement, and decision-making,

- Support pilot logistics, including scheduling, communications, materials preparation, participant coordination, and delivery readiness,

- Assist with the development of a cohesive, user-friendly, and replicable nCAT toolkit, including curriculum, facilitator guides, online modules, and implementation resources,

- Contribute to sustainability, delivery-model, scale-up, and future funding planning, and

- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the successful delivery of the nCAT project.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Strong understanding of, or demonstrated willingness to learn about, nłeʔképmx culture, history, governance, values, and cultural protocols,

- Ability to work respectfully with Elders and Knowledge Keepers and to handle cultural knowledge with care, discretion, and accountability,

- Strong project coordination, organization, scheduling, documentation, and follow-up skills,

- Confident and respectful facilitation, presentation, and group-engagement skills,

- Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with Indigenous communities, employers, consultants, managers, and participants from diverse backgrounds,

- Understanding of culturally safe, Indigenous-inclusive, and respectful workplace practices,

- Ability to gather, organize, and summarize qualitative and quantitative information while maintaining confidentiality,

- Strong written communication, proofreading, and resource-development skills,

- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and contribute collaboratively within a project team,

- Sound judgment, adaptability, initiative, and attention to detail, and

- Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint, or the ability to learn these tools quickly.

Experience and Requirements

- Post-secondary education in education, adult learning, Indigenous studies, community development, human resources, communications, project management,



or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered,

- Experience coordinating projects, programs, training, community engagement, or employer engagement,

- Experience facilitating training, workshops, meetings, or group discussions is an asset,

- Experience working with Indigenous communities, organizations, Elders, or Knowledge Keepers is strongly preferred,

- Experience supporting curriculum, learning-resource, or evaluation-tool development is an asset,

- Experience collecting feedback, coordinating evaluations, or preparing project summaries and reports is an asset,

- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence and access to reliable transportation,

- Satisfactory submission of a Vulnerable Sector Check,

- Physically fit to lift up to 50lbs on a semi-regular basis, and able to set up and tear down classroom set ups,

- Ability to travel within nłeʔképmx territory and to employer or training locations as required, and

- Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends to support training, engagement, or project activities with advance notice.

Work Environment

- Schedule: Monday through Friday between 8:30am and 4:30pm, with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break, fluctuating when needed. On average, 21 hours per week,

- Overtime: All daily overtime over 8 hours will be banked at 1.5x, all hours over 12 will be banked at 2x,

- Reporting Office Location: Office work will be conducted from the CNA office at 2025 Granite Ave, Merritt BC, with the expectation of field work as needed, and

- Vacation: Paid out bi-weekly at a rate of 4% in accordance to the BC Employment Standards Act ("ESA").
