Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) – Independent Contractor

Evolve Speech Therapy is looking for a warm, reliable and enthusiastic Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) to join my private speech-language therapy practice in Tecumseh, Ontario.

This is a versatile, part-time independent contractor opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and teens and would like to collaborate closely with an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist.

The Opportunity The CDA will provide individualized speech and communication therapy under the supervision and direction of a registered Speech-Language Pathologist and in accordance with established treatment plans.

Therapy may include

- Speech sound and articulation therapy
- Fluency and stuttering support
- Social communication and communication confidence
- Executive functioning and functional communication skills
- Carryover and generalization of established speech-language goals

My approach is individualized, strengths-based and neurodiversity-affirming, with an emphasis on functional communication, confidence and each client’s individual needs. Most sessions will take place at the Evolve Speech Therapy office in Tecumseh. There may also be opportunities to provide in-home therapy within Windsor-Essex for contractors who are interested.

Compensation

- $85 per 60-minute session
- $65 per 45-minute session

Indeed displays these rates as an hourly equivalent of approximately $85–$86.67/hour. This is an independent contractor position and compensation is paid per session rather than as an hourly employee wage. Session rates include brief clinical documentation completed immediately following each session and preparation of appropriate home practice or carryover activities.





Therapy materials and resources are available within the office, and there is no expectation to create extensive therapy materials outside of sessions.

I am responsible for finding and scheduling clients, completing assessments and reassessments, developing and updating treatment plans, monitoring overall progress, and handling broader communication with families regarding treatment needs. This allows the CDA to focus primarily on direct therapy and implementation of established goals.

Qualifications

- Graduate of a recognized Communicative Disorders Assistant program — proof of diploma/successful completion required
- Own professional liability insurance with a minimum of $2,000,000 per claim — proof of current coverage required before beginning services
- Warm and engaging with children and teenagers
- Reliable, organized and professional
- Able to follow established treatment plans while bringing creativity and personality to sessions
- Comfortable completing clear and timely clinical documentation
- Comfortable collaborating with the supervising SLP

Schedule

Availability for approximately two evenings per week is preferred. Optional weekend availability is welcome but not required.

The contractor will have flexibility to determine their availability and accept clients based on their preferred schedule. There is potential to expand the caseload over time if desired.
