Brooks & District Community Fund Coordinator

(Part-Time, Remote, 15-20 Hours/Week)

Position Summary The Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta (CFSEA) fosters meaningful connections between philanthropy and community for the perpetual benefit of Southeastern Alberta. Guided by our values of Integrity, Innovation, Inclusion, and Leadership, CFSEA builds permanent endowments, supports charitable organizations through grantmaking, and convenes conversations that strengthen communities.

Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with the Brooks and District Community Fund Advisory Committee, the Community Fund Coordinator (CFC) is responsible for growing community philanthropy through donor engagement, fund development, community outreach, nonprofit relationship building, stewardship, and community fund growth.

The CFC serves as CFSEA's local ambassador for the City of Brooks and the County of Newell, helping build awareness of charitable giving opportunities, strengthening relationships with donors and community organizations, identifying emerging community needs, and supporting the long-term growth of unrestricted and regional endowment funds.

Key Responsibilities

Fund Development and Philanthropic Growth

- Develop and implement local fund development activities that support growth of community and regional endowment funds.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors, businesses, community leaders, and professional advisors.
- Conduct donor visits and relationship-building meetings focused on community funds, legacy giving, unrestricted giving, and endowed philanthropy.
- Maintain an active pipeline of prospective donors, fundholders, and community champions.
- Assist in developing cases for support, donor impact stories, stewardship reports, and promotional materials.

Community Engagement and Awareness

- Support the hosting and coordination of local community conversations, information sessions, and outreach activities that raise awareness of CFSEA and local philanthropy.
- Engage community members in discussions regarding current and emerging needs.
- Serve as a visible and trusted representative of CFSEA within the community.
- Support campaigns that increase awareness, donor engagement,



and community participation.
- Share local impact stories that demonstrate the value of charitable endowments and community investment.

Rural Partnerships and Nonprofit Relations

- Develop and strengthen relationships with nonprofit organizations, municipalities, service clubs, schools, and community organizations.
- Build and formalize partnerships within rural communities.
- Conduct ongoing outreach and site visits with grant recipients and community organizations.
- Identify opportunities for collaborative initiatives and place-based philanthropy.
- Support the development of new regional or community funds where opportunities exist.

Grantmaking and Community Impact

- Support local advisory committees in identifying community priorities and funding opportunities.
- Assist with community granting processes and applicant support.
- Promote fairness, transparency, and inclusiveness in grantmaking activities.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of grants and funded initiatives.
- Gather community insights that help inform funding priorities and strategic decisions.

Administration and Reporting

- Maintain accurate donor, stakeholder, volunteer, and fund records.
- Track activities and outcomes related to community engagement, fund development, partnerships, and stewardship.
- Prepare monthly activity updates and reports.
- Ensure compliance with Foundation policies, CRA requirements, and best practices.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

Required

- Strong oral, written, and presentation skills.
- Excellent organizational and relationship-management skills.
- Experience using CRM, donor management, or stakeholder databases.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for regional travel.
- Experience in fund development, donor relations,



or philanthropic engagement.
- Experience working within the nonprofit, charitable, community development, or municipal sector.
- Demonstrated success building relationships with donors, volunteers, boards, sponsors, funders, and community stakeholders.
- Experience engaging in diverse community groups and facilitating community conversations.
- Knowledge of nonprofit governance, charitable organizations, and community development principles.

Preferred

- CFRE designation or equivalent fundraising training.
- Post-secondary education in nonprofit management, fund development, communications, business, public administration, community development, or a related field.
- Experience working with grantmaking organizations or charitable fund management.
- Established relationships within Southeastern Alberta communities.

Hours of Work

This is a part time position averaging 15-20 hours per week. The position requires flexibility to attend occasional evening and weekend meetings, community events, donor visits, and outreach activities. Local and regional travel throughout Southeastern Alberta will be required.

Work Location: This position is based remotely in Brooks and the County of Newell. Regular local travel and occasional travel to Medicine Hat are required. CFSEA provides the equipment and resources necessary for remote work.

Success Measures The Community Fund Coordinator will be evaluated on:

- Number and quality of donor and advisor engagement activities.
- New donor, volunteer, and community partner relationships established.
- Community conversations and outreach activities delivered.
- Rural partnerships developed and maintained.
- Community awareness and engagement outcomes.
- Support provided to local granting initiatives.
- Overall contribution to strengthening philanthropy and community impact across the region.
