Job Summary

Loud Voice Society is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and community-minded Community Wellness and Healing Advocate to support individuals who may be experiencing homelessness, substance use, recovery, mental health challenges, trauma, or other barriers to wellness.

This paid position plays an important role in building trusting relationships, supporting community members in identifying their goals, and connecting individuals with appropriate services and resources. The successful candidate will contribute to a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment while supporting mental, emotional, physical, social, and cultural well-being.

The role combines community outreach, advocacy, group facilitation, systems navigation, administrative duties, and relationship building with community partners.

Responsibilities

- Engage with community members to identify wellness needs, goals, barriers, and appropriate supports.
- Provide compassionate, non-judgmental, trauma-informed support to individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use, recovery, mental health challenges, or other forms of marginalization.
- Support individuals in accessing mental health services, substance-use and recovery supports, housing resources, health care, income assistance, cultural supports, and other community services.
- Provide one-on-one advocacy, systems navigation, referrals, and assistance connecting with community resources.
- Facilitate or assist with wellness workshops, healing circles, sharing circles, educational presentations, and community events.
- Promote resilience, healthy relationships, self-care, recovery, cultural connection, and community belonging.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with local organizations, Indigenous agencies, shelters, recovery programs, health services, schools, and other community partners.
- Advocate for the voices, needs, and experiences of community members when working with service providers and community systems.
- Assist with community outreach, event coordination, program development, and participant engagement.




- Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of outreach activities, participant contacts, referrals, program participation, and outcomes.
- Assist with administrative responsibilities, including electronic and paper filing, data entry, correspondence, record keeping, and program documentation.
- Assist with bookkeeping, invoicing, financial record keeping, expense tracking, and other basic administrative financial duties as required.
- Support organizational reporting and tracking requirements.
- Perform other related duties that support Loud Voice Society's community wellness and healing programs.

Qualifications, Education and Experience
- Human Service Worker Diploma, Bachelor of Social Work (BSW), or related post-secondary education in human services, social work, community development, mental health, addictions, Indigenous services, or a related field is preferred.
- Accounting or bookkeeping education, certification, training, or relevant work experience is considered an asset.
- A combination of relevant education, lived experience, employment experience, and community-based knowledge may also be considered.
- Experience working with people who are unhoused, in recovery, affected by substance use, or experiencing other forms of social or economic marginalization.
- Experience in community services, outreach, peer support, social services, recovery services, mental health, Indigenous services, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and maintain qualified boundaries.
- Ability to work respectfully with people from diverse cultural, social, and lived-experience backgrounds.
- Understanding of trauma-informed,



person-centred, culturally safe, and strengths-based approaches.
- Knowledge of local community resources and referral pathways is considered an asset.
- Ability to facilitate group discussions, workshops, sharing circles, or educational activities.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusion, equity, social justice, community healing, and empowerment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and complete accurate documentation.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively as part of a community-based team.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience using QuickBooks, Adobe applications, or similar administrative and accounting software is considered an asset.
- Ability to maintain both electronic and manual filing systems.
- Ability to pass a Vulnerable and Children sector criminal record check.

- Lived experience related to recovery, homelessness, mental health, substance use, or navigating community systems.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and culturally grounded programming.
- Experience with community outreach, advocacy, case coordination, or systems navigation.
- Experience organizing community events, workshops, or group programming.
- Experience with bookkeeping, financial record keeping, invoicing, expense tracking, or nonprofit administration.
- Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar accounting software.

The Community Wellness and Healing Advocate will have the opportunity to work directly with individuals and community partners while helping strengthen pathways to wellness, recovery, belonging, and long-term community connection.

Pay: $29.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10.0 – 16.0 per week
