Job Summary

Residential Support Worker – Experienced Applicants Only

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Residential Support Worker to support adults with developmental disabilities and complex behavioural needs in a staffed residential home .The individuals may display challenging behaviours, including verbal and physical aggression. Applicants must be confident, calm and experienced in responding to escalating situations, following behaviour-support plans and using appropriate de-escalation techniques. This is not an entry-level position.

Duties

- Providing person-centred support in the home and community
- Supporting individuals who may display aggressive or challenging behaviours
- Following behaviour-support plans, safety protocols and established routines
- Supporting community outings, recreational activities and appointments
- Encouraging independence and the development of daily living skills
- Completing required documentation and reporting concerns to management
- Preparing simple meals and completing light household cleaning
- Maintaining a safe, respectful and structured home setting
- Working cooperatively with other staff, families and members of the individual’s support team

Experience

- Previous experience supporting adults with complex and challenging behaviours
- Current Mandt System training
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Valid B.C.

- Clean and current driver’s abstract
- Successful criminal record check for working with vulnerable adults
- Strong communication, documentation and problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain calm, professional and consistent during challenging situations
- Ability to work independently and follow established policies and support plans

- Valid CPR/First Aid

-Criminal record check will be done by Morgan Krossing Community Services Inc.
- Valid Drivers License (class 5 preferred)

-Valid ICBC insurance (commercial must be added)

Available Shifts

Casual / On call shifts. Possible on call / casual shifts are:

Monday to Friday: 9am - 3 pm at a Community Inclusion Program (day program)

Monday to Sunday: 7am - 3pm, 3pm-11pm, 11pm-7am (awake, over night shift)

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
