About the Role
Samcore Ltd. is looking for an organized and detail-oriented Construction Accounting Coordinator to join our team.
We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of accounting and bookkeeping who is comfortable working with numbers, invoices, spreadsheets, and financial reporting. Previous construction accounting experience is an asset; however, we are open to candidates from other accounting backgrounds who are motivated and able to learn construction accounting processes quickly.
The successful candidate will support the day-to-day accounting and financial administration of our construction projects and work closely with project management and company leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Review, code, enter, and process supplier and subcontractor invoices
- Maintain and track construction cost codes and project expenses
- Assist with preparation and tracking of progress draws/progress billings
- Track subcontractor billings, change orders, holdbacks, and payments
- Reconcile invoices, statements, credit cards, and company accounts
- Enter and maintain accurate financial information in QuickBooks
- Prepare and maintain accounting and project tracking spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel
- Assist with monthly financial and project cost reporting
- Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue accounts
- Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation
- Assist with HST, expense tracking, and general bookkeeping
- Review project costs against budgets and identify discrepancies
- Communicate with suppliers, subcontractors, project managers, and internal staff regarding invoices and payments
- Assist management with financial reports and other accounting-related tasks as required
Qualifications
- Previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping, AP/AR, or a similar financial role
- Experience with QuickBooks is strongly preferred
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Comfortable working with spreadsheets, financial reports, reconciliations, and large amounts of financial data
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to identify discrepancies and follow through until they are resolved
- Strong communication and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Willingness and ability to learn new systems and construction accounting processes quickly
Construction Experience Previous experience in construction accounting is considered a strong asset, particularly experience with:
- Construction cost codes and job costing
- Progress draws/progress billings
- Subcontractor invoices
- Change orders
- Statutory holdbacks
- Project cost reporting
- Purchase orders and commitments
Construction experience is not mandatory. Candidates with a solid accounting background who are quick learners and interested in learning construction accounting are encouraged to apply.

We're looking for someone who is organized, dependable, accurate, and comfortable taking ownership of accounting tasks. The ideal candidate can work through discrepancies, ask questions when something doesn't look right, and learn the accounting side of construction projects as they gain experience with our company.
Experience: Accounting/Bookkeeping: 5+ years preferred
QuickBooks: Experience preferred
Microsoft Excel: Strong working knowledge required
Construction Accounting: Preferred, but not required
Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
