Chalex Construction Ltd. is looking for a Skilled Labourer to join our Operations team in Edmonton. Reporting to the Project Supervisor, you will keep worksites clean and protected, erect scaffolding, spread gravel, operate drills, jackhammers, and other power tools, and support heavy machinery work. You will take direction from superiors and complete on the job training as you go.

The ideal candidate has completed an apprenticeship and built practical skills in the trade. We are looking for someone hungry to expand their skill set, willing to learn from other crew members, and open to off site training where available. Out of town work will be a necessity at times

What You Will Do

● Work closely with all trades, ensuring they are scheduled according to the project plan, or rescheduled to address any changes to the plan

● Assist superintendents with inspections and act as the eyes and ears on site

● Move materials to the worksite and ensure all tools, machinery, and other equipment are safely set up

● Operate and care for construction equipment and machines, helping equipment operators, carpenters, and other skilled labour as needed

● Load and unload construction materials, assemble and take apart temporary structures such as scaffolding, and remove, fill, or compact earth

● Operate equipment such as drills, pneumatic hammers, shovels, pikes,



and other heavy machinery

● Assist with various electrical and plumbing installation procedures

● Follow health and safety codes as well as company principles

● Perform site and equipment inspections

● Attend meetings and workshops

● Complete on the job training

● Ensure tasks are completed to deadline

What You Bring

● Minimum 3 years of experience in the construction industry

● Thorough knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, and OH&S; guidelines

● High school diploma or equivalent

● Class 5 driver's license recommended

● Sound knowledge of construction and practical experience with tools

● Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills

● A good understanding of safety procedures

● Strong hand, eye, and foot coordination

● Willingness to learn and flexibility on the job

● Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills

Working Conditions

● Extended periods of standing and working with products

● Personal protective equipment required 100% of work time

● Overtime may be required to meet construction deadlines

● Regular lifting up to 50 lbs without mechanical assistance

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $22.00-$35.00 per hour
