RareBuilt Homes Ltd. is looking for an experienced, hands-on Controller to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a financially savvy professional who wants to be more than a traditional accountant — you’ll be a key financial partner to our CFO, executive team, Construction, Purchasing and Operations teams.

You’ll play an important role in understanding profitability, managing construction costs, protecting margins and providing the financial insight needed to support smart business decisions.

THE ROLE

As Controller, you will oversee the accounting function and take ownership of financial reporting, construction accounting, WIP, cash flow and financial controls.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and the accounting team.
- Prepare accurate monthly financial statements, WIP reports, cash-flow reports and loan reporting.
- Take ownership of WIP and job-cost accounting, including projected costs, margins and profitability by home and project.
- Monitor construction costs and work closely with Construction, Purchasing and Operations to ensure accurate job costing.
- Prepare and maintain 13-week cash-flow forecasts.
- Monitor construction draws, financing, loans, interest and banking requirements.
- Oversee AP, AR, customer deposits, supplier accounts and progress payments.
- Oversee GST reporting and coordinate year-end and corporate tax requirements with external accountants.
- Develop and maintain strong internal financial controls.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis for communities, developments and individual homes.




- Provide management with meaningful financial analysis and recommendations.
- Coordinate year-end processes, reconciliations and supporting schedules.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

- Several years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in homebuilding, construction, real estate development or another project-based setting.
- Strong experience with WIP and job-cost accounting.
- Strong financial reporting, forecasting and cash-flow management skills.
- Experience with construction financing, lender reporting or loan draws is an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to work independently.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to translate numbers into meaningful business insights.
- CPA designation or progress toward a CPA is an asset.
