If you enjoy working independently in a fast-paced contact center environment using a client centered approach to provide service over the telephone, this position may be of interest to you. Reporting to the Program Manager, Health Link, this position is responsible for providing contact center, clinical and operational support in real time to, Tobacco Counsellors on the AlbertaQuits Helpline team. In addition to providing immediate support to staff, this position is responsible for day-to-day problem solving related to staffing, technology, and business processes. The position also supports Quality and Safety activities through participation in staff education sessions and call assessment and coaching of ABQuits staff. This position supports the delivery of safe, effective, and appropriate service.

Description:

As a Counsellor II, you will be a member of the interdisciplinary team and provide assessment, therapy intervention, consultation, education and other related activities. You will help support treatment delivery within the program and community geographic team.

Required Qualifications: Completion of bachelor's degree in a health related field.



Minimum three years' clinical experience in a forensic setting.

Additional Required Qualifications:

An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. The successful candidate will demonstrate competency in concurrent-capable practice within addiction and mental health, supported by 1 to 3 years of formal clinical supervisory experience. Strong leadership skills, including team leadership, adult education, coaching, and mentoring, are essential.

The candidate will possess excellent analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities, along with advanced computer proficiency in Office 365, Genesys, and EchoAccess. The ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment is required. Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are necessary, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with clients, colleagues, and leadership.

A commitment to fostering a positive, team-focused work environment is expected. The role also requires a strong understanding of the continuum of Addiction and Mental Health services within Alberta Health Services, as well as community-based resources that address the social determinants of health. Advanced assessment, intervention, and crisis management skills for individuals of all ages experiencing addiction and mental health concerns, combined with a solid customer service focus, are essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

Registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers or the College of Alberta Psychologists is preferred. Experience in customer service and supporting individuals with tobacco cessation, addiction recovery, or other lifestyle changes is considered an asset. Tobacco Educator Certification and Psychological First Aid (PFA) training are preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Teams and previous contact centre experience would be an asset.
