For more information please contact: Tracy Davidson [email protected] The Department of Computer Science invites applications for a 5-year term position as Head, commencing January 1, 2027, or on a date mutually agreed upon. Applicants must hold a tenured position with the University of Manitoba at the rank of Professor. The Department seeks an established scholar with a commitment to research, academic leadership and excellence in teaching.

Outstanding candidates in any area of computer science or related fields will be considered. The department has strengths in autonomous agents, bioinformatics, computational finance, computational linguistics, artificial intelligence and machine learning, databases and data mining, cybersecurity, theoretical computer science, human computer interaction, software engineering and security, and communication networks. The successful candidate will have a track record of high-quality scholarly research leading to peer assessed publications, will have established an independent, innovative, scholarly, externally fundable research program, will have demonstrated strong and outstanding teaching contributions, will have demonstrated strong administrative, leadership and management skills, and will exhibit evidence of the ability to work in a cooperative environment.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The Department currently has 26 full time tenured and tenure track faculty members and 8 Instructors. It offers Major and Honours programs including a co-op option plus joint Honours programs at the undergraduate level, and thesis-based M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs at the graduate level. The Department is supported by strong research links with other University of Manitoba departments including Physics and Astronomy, Biological Sciences, Statistics and Mathematics.
