Lead Events & Conference Services at one of the world's most iconic destinations!

Canadian Niagara Hotels is seeking an accomplished Director of Events & Conference Services to lead the Banquet and Events team across our two Marriott properties on the brink of Niagara Falls.

With 836 guest rooms and suites, nearly 30,000 square feet of meeting and event space, and unparalleled views of the Falls, our hotels are a destination of choice for corporate conferences, association meetings, social celebrations, and weddings. Minutes from world-class wineries, golf, casinos, and attractions, we offer event planners and their guests an experience that simply can't be replicated.

This is a leadership role for a hospitality professional who combines operational excellence with commercial acumen, someone who delivers flawless events, builds strong teams, and drives revenue.

What You'll Lead

Strategy & Financial Performance

- Develop and execute the business plan and long-term strategy for Events operations across both properties
- Build and manage the annual departmental budget, driving revenue while controlling labour and operating costs
- Identify and capitalize on revenue opportunities through upselling, menu development, and enhanced event experiences

Client Experience

- Partner with clients from contract to execution, leading site inspections, food tastings, pre-conference meetings, and on-site event management
- Collaborate closely with Sales and our AV partner to ensure every contracted detail is delivered to the client's expectations
- Design floor plans and event layouts, and champion accurate, detailed Banquet Event Orders (BEOs)
- Resolve client requests and concerns promptly, in keeping with Marriott service standards

Culinary & Operations

- Create innovative menus in partnership with the Executive Chef that reflect current culinary and beverage trends
- Coordinate with Food & Beverage and other departments to review upcoming functions and communicate changes seamlessly
- Oversee event space set-up, presentation, and maintenance to the highest quality standards
- Establish par levels and manage inventory, equipment,



and storage areas

People Leadership

- Recruit, train, coach, and develop a high-performing Banquet and Events team
- Ensure timely completion and documentation of all mandatory training
- Foster a culture of accountability, recognition, and continuous improvement
- Model Marriott service behaviours and standards of professionalism
- Ensure a safe workplace in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and internal policies

What You Bring

- A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing Banquets and Events in a hotel setting.
- Extensive culinary and wine knowledge and be familiar with different styles of service.
- Degree/Diploma in Event Management, Hospitality Management or a related discipline is a strong asset.
- CMP certificate an asset.
- Demonstrated budgeting skills.
- Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset.
- Demonstrated experience in the preparation and presentation of the venue for corporate events, meetings, weddings etc.
- Outstanding attention to detail – both personal grooming/appearance and in properly identifying guest’s needs, demeanor, and level of required service attention.
- Excellent customer service skills; independently takes initiative and demonstrates enthusiasm to ensure the highest level of guest satisfaction.
- Proven leadership ability in a team environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to work under pressure; proven ability to plan and multi-task in a busy environment.
- Excellent communication skills – both oral and written – when dealing with guests and employees both internally and externally.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as co-operatively within a team setting.
- Must be able to work nights,



weekends and holidays.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft applications – Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong knowledge of technology is considered an asset (smart phones, Ipads, LCD projectors).
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- The successful candidate is expected to be a leader in demonstrating Marriott service behaviours.
