Rapid Response Industrial Group Ltd. (RRIG) is seeking an experienced HazMat Team Lead to provide field leadership during hazardous materials, environmental, industrial, and emergency response operations. The successful candidate will lead response personnel, support safe and effective tactical execution, and ensure work is completed in accordance with company procedures, client requirements, and applicable legislation.

This role requires a safety-focused leader who can make sound decisions in dynamic environments, communicate clearly with team members and clients, and maintain operational readiness for planned work and emergency call-outs.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and coordinate HazMat, emergency response, environmental, and industrial field activities in accordance with approved response plans and company procedures.
- Conduct or support site hazard assessments, job safety analyses, and dynamic risk assessments before and during operations.
- Direct response team members and coordinate task assignments, work sequencing, equipment use, and site controls.
- Ensure appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE), respiratory protection, monitoring equipment, containment systems, and other response resources.
- Support incident command, site coordination, and communication with clients, supervisors, subcontractors, and other responding agencies as assigned.
- Perform or oversee hazardous materials identification, containment, recovery, decontamination, packaging, and related field activities within the employee’s training and authorization.
- Maintain operational readiness of vehicles, equipment, response supplies,



documentation, and team competencies.
- Complete accurate field documentation, including time records, daily reports, hazard assessments, incident records, waste documentation, and client-required paperwork.
- Promote safe work practices, professional conduct, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in emergency response call-outs, extended shifts, travel, and work outside standard business hours as required.

Qualifications

- HazMat Technician-level training or equivalent experience appropriate to the duties of the role, consistent with applicable NFPA 470 competencies.
- Previous experience in hazardous materials response, emergency response, industrial services, environmental services, spill response, or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to lead field personnel, prioritize tasks, and maintain composure in changing or high-pressure environments.
- Working knowledge of hazard assessment, PPE selection, decontamination, containment, product identification, and safe response practices.
- Valid driver’s licence with the ability to travel and operate company vehicles as required.
- Ability to complete required documentation accurately and communicate effectively with clients, coworkers, and management.
- Ability to meet physical demands of field response work, including wearing required PPE and working in variable weather and site conditions.

Preferred Experience Experience or certification in one or more of the following areas is considered an asset:

- NFPA 470-aligned HazMat Technician competencies or recognized equivalent training
- Incident Command System (ICS I-200 or equivalent)
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)
- Emergency Response Assistance Plan (ERAP) operations
- Confined space entry, respiratory protection, or air monitoring
- Industrial cleaning, spill response, remediation, or hazardous waste operations
- First aid/CPR, WHMIS,



or other relevant safety certifications
- Experience leading crews or acting as a senior responder on complex incidents

Pay: $28.00-$40.00 per hour
