As a Leo Lighthouse tutor, you're more than just a tutor—you're a mentor. This is a adaptable part-time contract. Our tutors choose which students to accept and build their own weekly schedules. Tutors are matched to students based on expertise, location, and personality. Enjoy competitive pay, flexible hours, and a supportive teaching setting!

Mentorship and professional networking opportunities

We proudly serve students throughout North York and Midtown Toronto. As a Leo Lighthouse Tutor, you can be relied upon to:

- Provide one-on-one private English tutoring for elementary or high school students
- Travel to pre-screened students' homes in North York or Midtown Toronto
- Schedule consistent weekly tutoring appointments with students or their parents

Qualifications:

- Proficient in English, with experience supporting either (i) elementary reading, writing, and phonics or (ii) high school essay writing and literary analysis
- Previous English tutoring or teaching experience with the Ontario curriculum
- Ability to tutor Elementary English (Grades 1-8) or High School English (Grades 9-12)
- University/college student, graduate, postgraduate, English teacher, retired teacher, OCT candidate, special education specialist, or educational assistant
- Passion for helping students succeed and develop a love of reading and writing

Successful candidates:

- Have some availability between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. on weeknights and weekends, as these are generally the times requested by clients
- Are willing to complete a criminal background check, if not already completed
- Have access to a personal vehicle for travel to students’ homes in North York or Midtown Toronto

Nice to have:

- Experience supporting students with different learning needs (e.g., autism, ADHD)
- Enrolled in or completed a teacher education program (e.g., OCT)
- International Baccalaureate (IB) or Advanced Placement (AP) program experience
- Background in political science, English, history, or a related field
