As an Enterprise Architecture student, you will join the Technology Architecture and Modernization team within the larger Technology department. This team is located on the second floor of the Irving Oil home office in Saint John, New Brunswick.

The Technology

Architecture and Modernization team plays a critical role in understanding, documenting, and evolving the organization’s technology environment, so that business and technology decisions are supported by accurate and current architecture information.

As a student, your primary focus will be helping the team capture current-state architecture and ensure it is accurately reflected in the Enterprise Architecture repository. This includes supporting the documentation of applications, lifecycle dates, contracts, cost details, system integration dependencies, and initiative timelines related to system decommissioning and data archiving. This position offers the chance to develop a practical understanding of how business processes, applications, data flows, integrations, and technology dependencies fit together across the organization.

Responsibilities:

- Capture and document current-state architecture information in the Enterprise Architecture repository
- Review and update application records, including ownership, business usage, lifecycle dates, contract details, and cost information
- Map relationships and dependencies between applications, integrations, data flows, and supporting technology components
- Create and maintain architecture diagrams, application views, and repository reports using approved tools and templates
- Support validation of architecture data with application owners, project teams, and other technology stakeholders
- Help align architecture records to initiative timelines, including planned system decommissioning, replacement solutions, and data archiving activities
- Participate in architecture team discussions to build context and confirm documentation accuracy

Your Experience:

- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Technology Management, Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related program, preferably entering 3rd or final year of study
- Familiarity with diagramming, data analysis, or documentation tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, draw.io, Excel, Power BI, or similar tools
- Interest in enterprise architecture, application portfolios, technology lifecycle management, data flows, or system integrations
