Kells Academy is seeking a dedicated and experienced ESL Teacher to join our secondary school team. The successful candidate will create an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment that helps students develop their English language proficiency while building the academic, communication, and organizational skills necessary for success in high school and beyond.

Responsibilities

- Teach English as a Second Language to secondary students in a small group setting.
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that address a range of English language proficiency levels and learning needs.
- Develop students' skills in reading, writing, listening, speaking, vocabulary, grammar, and academic communication.
- Understand and apply the curriculum objectives, protocols, and culture of Kells Academy.
- Adapt instruction and assessment practices to support multilingual learners and students with diverse learning profiles.
- Monitor and document student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Attend and contribute to team and faculty meetings.
- Communicate regularly with administration, parents,



and students regarding student progress.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support students' academic and social-emotional development.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the school principal.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related field; Master’s preferred
- CELTA certification preferred; TESOL or TEFL certification also considered
- Strong teaching background, including training and experience in ESL/EAL education
- Successful experience working with a diverse, multilingual student population
- Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction for students with varying levels of English proficiency
- Strong knowledge of effective second-language acquisition strategies and communicative language teaching
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Experience working in a secondary school environment is an asset

Schedule and Accountability

- Approx. 50% workload
- Start date: As soon as possible
- Most responsibilities will take place during the regular school day (8:00 am – 4:00 pm)
- The full-time ESL teacher will report to the principal.
