Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Construction Estimator with 2 to 5 years of experience to join our team in Ontario.

While our primary focus is on insulation (spray foam, batt, blown-in) and building envelope systems, we also strongly encourage candidates with estimating backgrounds in related trades—such as roofing, drywall/Division 9, waterproofing, or firestopping—to apply.

In this role, you will analyze project specifications, perform precise quantity takeoffs, and compile accurate cost estimates for commercial and residential projects. You will navigate local bidding platforms (e.g., ConstructConnect, BuildingConnected, Merx, ConstructPro) to track opportunities, read architectural drawings, and build competitive, winning proposals.

Key Responsibilities

- Takeoffs & Costing: Perform accurate quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam / Stack (or equivalent) and compile detailed estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services in Excel.
- Plan & Spec Analysis: Review complex project drawings, architectural plans, and specifications to define project scopes accurately.
- Bidding Platform Management: Navigate Ontario bidding and tender sites (e.g., ConstructConnect, ConstructPro, Merx, BuildingConnected) to identify leads, track addenda, and download tender packages.
- GC & Vendor Relations: Communicate directly with General Contractors (GCs), vendors, and suppliers to clarify scope details, request material pricing, and follow up on submitted bids.
- Proposal Submission: Assist in preparing and delivering competitive, timely bid submissions and proposals.
- Cost Control Support: Maintain organized records of past estimates, historical pricing data,



and contracts to assist project management teams during project execution.

Must-Have Qualifications
- 3+ years of direct experience in construction estimating.
- Proven drawing-reading ability: Comfortable interpreting architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings/specifications.
- Quantity Takeoffs: Demonstrated skill in accurately measuring and quantifying project requirements.
- Software Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Bluebeam Revu (or equivalent takeoff software).
- Pricing Expertise: Experience pricing both labor and material components for sub-trade scopes.
- General Contractor Experience: Proven track record of interacting and building rapport with General Contractors.
- Ontario Bidding Platforms: Hands-on experience navigating construction procurement and tender sites used in Ontario.
- Driver's Licence: Valid driver's licence for occasional site or client visits.

Preferred / Major Bonus Experience Candidates with hands-on estimating experience in any of the following specialized scopes will be given top priority:
- Insulation: Spray foam, blown-in, batt, and rigid insulation.
- Roofing: Commercial flat roofing or residential systems.
- Waterproofing & Damp-proofing.
- Firestopping / Fireproofing.
- Building Envelope Systems.
- Division 9 Finishes: Drywall, framing, acoustic ceilings.
- Industry Network: Existing relationships with local Ontario General Contractors.

Pay: $60,500.00-$80,000.00 per year
