Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced ETL Automation Quality Engineer (QE) to join a leading financial services organization’s Quality Assurance team in Toronto.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust test automation frameworks for critical enterprise and financial applications. This role will involve UI, API, backend, database, and ETL/data validation testing, along with integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks using Selenium with Java or Python with Robot Framework.
- Develop and execute automated test scripts for UI, backend, API, and data/ETL validation.
- Perform REST API and microservices testing, including functional and integration testing.
- Write and execute SQL queries for database validation, data integrity, and backend verification.
- Analyze requirements and identify appropriate test scenarios, automation opportunities, and test coverage.
- Develop and maintain reusable automation scripts, utilities, and test components.
- Execute automated test suites, analyze failures, and troubleshoot issues across application and data layers.
- Identify, document, track, and communicate defects using defect management tools.
- Collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, QA engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve quality issues.
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins or Azure DevOps.
- Monitor automation execution results and continuously improve test framework reliability, performance, and maintainability.
- Maintain test documentation, automation standards, test results, and relevant QA artifacts.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, refinement, stand-ups, and retrospectives.





Required Technical Skills

- 3+ years of experience in software quality assurance and test automation.
- Strong experience with either:
- Selenium + Java, OR
- Python + Robot Framework
- Strong SQL skills for database validation and data verification.
- Hands-on experience with API testing, preferably REST APIs and microservices.
- Experience with backend testing and integration testing.
- Experience working with Git and version control practices.
- Hands-on experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar CI/CD platforms.
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, test automation principles, and defect lifecycle.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working with multiple test automation frameworks or tools.
- Experience with ETL/data warehouse testing and data validation.
- Knowledge of performance testing and test optimization.
- Experience testing applications within the financial services/banking domain.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
- Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Postman, Maven/Gradle, or similar QA tools.
- ISTQB certification is an asset.
