Overview The RA Centre is seeking a skilled and versatile Facility Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities Team. We are looking for an experienced maintenance professional with a background in building operations and maintenance preferable within a sports and recreation environment.

Located in the heart of Ottawa, the RA Centre is a 200,000 sq foot, 35-acre, multi-sport recreation facility featuring a fitness centre, curling facility, outdoor pool, gun range, pickle ball courts, outdoor sport fields and a wide range of recreational programs and sport clubs.

The successful candidate will possess demonstrated experience and proficiency in several of the following areas: general carpentry and repairs, painting, HVAC systems and maintenance, plumbing and maintenance, electrical maintenance and troubleshooting, groundskeeping, sport fields and pool maintenance.

The following qualifications would be considered strong assets: general refrigeration experience, basic plumbing skills and Curling Ice installation and maintenance experience.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, be self-motivated and capable of working independently in a rapid paced and dynamic environment. Responsibilities

- Perform routine and preventative maintenance, repairs, and upgrades to building systems and infrastructure,



including basic plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, HVAC systems, and facility equipment.
- Operate and maintain Curling ice and equipment safely and effectively, including ice installation and removal, resurfacing, painting, logo application, and the use of specialized ice maintenance equipment.
- Monitor, operate, and perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of refrigeration systems, including recording system readings, checking oil levels, and supporting chiller operations.
- Safely operate grounds maintenance equipment and maintain outdoor recreational facilities, including soccer fields, ball diamonds, volleyball courts, and surrounding property grounds.
- Operate, monitor, and maintain swimming pool and spa filtration systems, including seasonal opening and closing procedures, chemical testing and balancing, troubleshooting, backwashing, vacuuming, and routine maintenance activities.
- Assist with the setup, support, and teardown of special events, programs, and facility activities as required.
- Carry out general custodial and sanitation duties to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment, including sweeping, mopping, cleaning washrooms and showers, and sanitizing facility spaces.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by responding professionally and courteously to members, guests, and facility users.




- Respond promptly and safely to emergencies in accordance with RA policies, procedures, and the Safety and Emergency Procedures Plan.
- Adhere to established health and safety standards, policies, and procedures while performing all duties.

Requirements

- a minimum of Grade 12 education
- Basic knowledge of equipment, mechanical and building maintenance,
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in recreation building operation environment including but not limited to arena, curling, pool and spa, sports fields is necessary,
- Knowledge of basic refrigeration and HVAC systems (ORFA refrigeration and HVAC training certification an asset),
- NSPF Certified Pool Operator or equivalent, as asset
- Basic certifications such as Working form Heights, NSCF Certified Pool Operator, HMINS, ORFA, HVAC or other industry certification.
- Experience in operation of equipment including but not limited to tractor, attachments, and various small hand and power tools,
- Ability to work rotating shifts including days. evenings, weekends and some holidays to meet the demands of the business,
- Is required to wear CSA approved protective footwear (steel toed boots) on the job and other PPE according to safety regulations,
- Ability to communicate in English essential,
- Basic computer skills an asset.

Pay: From $24.27 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
