Fire Alarm Project Specialist / Estimator

Electrician or Engineer – CFAA/CFAE Preferred

Oak Ridge Building Solutions Inc. is currently seeking a skilled electrician or engineer with a strong fire alarm background to join our growing team.

This is a hybrid office and field-based role combining technical support, estimating, project coordination, system planning and site investigation. The successful candidate will support our estimating, project management and field teams across fire alarm upgrades, panel replacements, integrated testing and design-build projects.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct site visits and field investigations to assess existing fire alarm systems
- Prepare estimates, quotations and detailed scopes of work for fire alarm upgrades and panel replacements
- Assist with the preparation of CAN/ULC-S1001 Integrated Test Plans
- Review drawings, specifications, inspection reports and tender documents
- Complete tenders and prepare material and labour take-offs
- Procure fire alarm equipment, devices and project materials
- Prepare and manage RFIs, change orders and site instructions
- Develop project schedules and coordinate field labour
- Prepare progress draws and track project costs and completion status
- Assist with shop drawings, product data and technical submittals
- Prepare closeout documentation, operating manuals and turnover packages
- Support project managers with fire alarm-related scopes on construction and retrofit projects
- Provide technical support to electricians, CFAA technicians and other field staff
- Coordinate with engineers, consultants, suppliers, manufacturers and clients
- Support design-build projects in collaboration with the project team and consulting engineers
- Assist with system troubleshooting, programming requirements and equipment selection
- Ensure work complies with applicable codes, standards, project specifications and manufacturer requirements





Qualifications
- Licensed electrician, electrical engineer, engineering technologist or an individual with equivalent fire alarm industry experience
- CFAA or CFAE designation is strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, installation practices and applicable codes and standards
- Experience estimating fire alarm upgrades, retrofits and panel replacements
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, riser diagrams and sequences of operation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational, scheduling and documentation skills
- Comfortable working independently in both office and field environments
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence
