Overview

Mississauga flower shop is looking for a part-time floral designer to work evenings and weekends (more hours will be required for all major holidays), some mornings may be required. We’re looking for someone with knowledge of the basic fundamentals of floral design. Customer service is an important part of this position, any knowledge in this area is helpful but not required.

Daily tasks will include designing, computer work, helping customers, answering phones and cleaning. We are a small team of designers looking to add a member to our team.

Responsibilities

- Create innovative floral designs tailored to customer preferences for events such as weddings, funerals, corporate functions, and everyday occasions.
- Maintain the freshness and health of floral stock through proper handling, watering, and storage techniques.
- Assist customers with selecting flowers and accessories by providing expert advice on arrangements and care.
- Support merchandising efforts by arranging displays that attract customers and highlight seasonal themes.
- Manage inventory levels efficiently, including ordering flowers and supplies as needed.
- Operate POS systems accurately for sales transactions, including cash handling and receipts.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth store operations, including landscape maintenance around the retail space.
- Promote cross-selling of related products such as plants, gardening tools, or gift items.
- Support e-commerce initiatives by preparing online orders with attention to detail and timely delivery.




- Communicate effectively with customers in multiple languages when necessary to enhance their shopping experience.
- Uphold high standards of customer service by addressing inquiries professionally and resolving issues promptly.

Skills

- Proven experience in floral design or related horticultural fields; familiarity with landscape maintenance is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of gardening practices, horticulture principles, and plant care techniques.
- Proficiency in POS systems, cash handling, and retail sales processes.
- Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are highly desirable.
- Ability to organize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of merchandising strategies both in-store and online.
- Experience with e-commerce platforms and digital sales channels is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service excellence.
- Knowledge of landscaping or gardening tools enhances the quality of floral arrangements.
- Ability to adapt communication style to diverse audiences across different cultural backgrounds.
